I've built a few systems with AMD processors and ATI onboard video. I want to install an Nvidia video card. The video chipset shouldn't matter, the card should be independant right?

I'm not happy with ATI's lack of driver support for Linux. The driver I run for my onboard HD4200 works fine but on my brothers HD3200 it causes instability. Boxing day sales are coming and I might pick him up one.
