I've only been to one Gun show and there's one coming up here in Va.

I'm not sure I feel safe going to one of these, with a bunch of yahoos and 300 tables filled with guns. Accidental discharges have been very rare at these, but let's face it, people aren't getting any smarter.

Aside from that input on what to do/look for welcome

I go regularly to gun shows and have since I was about 8, lots of great deals on firearms, ammo and accessories. Never had a ND while I was at one. In Indiana at least, the dealers have to keep the guns secured, and all guns get checked at the door by the local PD and secured with zip ties in the actions.

When I go, I'll make out a list of things I'm looking for, and the cheapest price I can find online (including shipping), then look around and see if I can find it cheaper there. Rarely is the trip where I don't find what I'm looking for cheaper at a gun show.

Thanks, Sk,

I re-checked the website and this show is Extremely well set up. They have uniformed officers, undercover officers and a State Police table. All arms are tag-tied up and people are stopped at the door and only let in if they unload and let their EDC carry guns be tag-tied safety tied.

Of course, there are people with loaded guns but they're LEOs. Doesn't mean complete safety like at a baby shower, but, heh, pretty well run.

The last one I went to was in the '70s and it was low key, but no armed guards like this one has.

I'm fairly sure I'm going to buy at a local store like Gander Mountain, but as you know gun shows have lots of cool stuff, not just guns. I'm not going to buy really just listen and learn.

Went to my first modern-day gun show (did one back in the 70s). It was great, low key, lots of nice friendly people, including the attendees. If any LEO had any doubts about the ability of a calm, trained public to CC, they should be dispelled here. We're law-abiding and just want to be safe, not be vigilantees.

Oh, and I bought a gun (hangs head)

^^^^^^
No loaded weapons are allowed inside a gunshow.  You couldn't be any safer IMO.  I attend gunshows every month here in Texas

That's what I tried to say :o) All the guns get checked, and at the ones in IN, they get a zip tie locked through the action so it's impossible to "accidentally" load one. The dealers at the tables run cable locks through the trigger guards to keep them on the tables and zip ties in the actions as well.

 What gun did you buy?
A multi-shot rubberband gun - (see above). It's pretty fun to do SD disarms and other goofy stuff with it. We shoot the TV when zombies are attacking, lol.

When i get my carry permit I'll look into getting the real thing. (should be here in 1-2 weeks (45 days in Va)).

I work in Arlinton. Friends that just got their permit took about a week.

Gun shows are very safe. The one by Dulles is nice. But they are higher in price, there is one near VA beach that has better prices.

Finally got my CHP. The 'nice lady' had it ready and in her out basket since 1/11, and said over the phone she didn't have 'time' to send it. WTF, you put it in an envelope and mail the sucker. Had to go by the courthouse and get it, no apology or nothing for sitting on it for 10 days. Mailing those out is all the beyotch does, fercryinoutloud.
