you're lucky he didn't get a volley off with those 250mm Compressed Coil Gun I! That would have been it for you.

Was alpha'ing people on station with my Nado and this noob Condor thought he would try to hero tackle me, so I undocked a 'slightly unusual' Nado fit...with triple web and 200mm auto-cannons. He had a disagreeable experience:

Also, updated ship-pile:

71 fully rigged ships worth 5 billion.

http://games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged-in/video-game-starship-worth-9-000-destroyed-ambush-190533986.html

Imagine spending years devoting your time and your finances to acquiring an impressive video game spaceship, one of the biggest and most valuable the gaming world has ever seen.

Now imagine all of that work being destroyed in minutes.

One player of the long-running online game EVE Online experienced that horror Sunday, when an ambush destroyed his supercarrier valued at a whopping $9,000.

The massive world of EVE Online is all about buying, piloting and blowing up spaceships. It’s not for the faint at heart, in part because its in-game currency, called ISK (Interstellar Kredits), carries a real-world value. The Revenant -- one of only three ships that big in existence -- carries a value of 309 billion ISK, making it among the priciest bits of code in the game.

That also made it quite the target.

The ambush played out with plenty of intrigue. Players in the Pandemic Legion received an SOS and assumed it was a player in distress. It turns out the player they had put in charge of leading their fleet was actually a spy for an opposing group, who led them directly into a bunch of dreadnaughts and supercarriers. The owner of the Revenant, a player named TSID, could do little to stop the virtual bloodbath, and the rest is EVE Online history.

The economy in EVE Online is a living thing. CCP, the game's developer, actually has an economist in-house who monitors the virtual world, working to curb inflation or introducing new types of technology to absorb currency. It’s like a virtual Federal Reserve, selling bonds to shrink the money supply.

Technically, players cannot exchange ISK for real-world cash, but CCP does let them use that in-game currency to buy real-world objects (such as graphics cards) and 30-day game time codes.

This isn't the first time the game has seen major losses. Eight months ago, a ship carrying valuable blueprints worth $6,000 in real-world money was destroyed by other players. And while losing a $9,000 spaceship is a serious bummer, the Revenant is still a far cry from the most expensive video game object, an honor held by a $350,000 space station in fellow online world Project Entropia.

On Yahoo main page. lol

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS...

I heard a 30-minute Vent log of the post-incident discussion immediately after this went down. The PL leadership were surprisingly upbeat considering the humiliating debacle they experienced. Except for one director.

...and HERE IT IS:

...and the Revenant would actually be worth around US$12,000.

309b ISK = roughly 572 plex (time cards) at current market prices

572 time cards@US$20 each = US$11,444

...for a floating Space Poo.

Hey Squat. Sorry to be avoiding you, but I don't want to get my T1 frig face blapped off needlessly. You are an excellent pilot and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out a way to get you to chase me to the gate where the rest of the fleet was waiting.

Oh, and which OGer is Tiffany Starr?

Fly safe. o/

I killed the Atron you were with but couldn't catch you on a gate.

Tiffany Starr is my alt.

I was up to my 80th consecutive kill without loss last night, but managed to lose a Talwar, taking my record over the last 7 days to 58 kills, 1 loss...

I was giving the Atron shit in fleet. He usually flies other ships, but that night, he was the long point tackle. He got his sphinctor puckered 3 times before he decided not to charge in trying to tank stuff.

I'm still learning a lot about the game and building isk reserves in order to fund my pvp habit. Hell, at the moment, I'm stockpiling LPs since we're in T3. That shit makes it too easy.

I'm sure I'll keep seeing you around.

just re-subbed as they sent me the 2 months for the price of one offer they usually send out and low and behold I see you can 'fix' your sec status by turning in pirate tags now? how well does this work? much work to get down from -9.9 to something that allows me in 0.5?

Yep.

https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Tags_for_Security

Only costs around 50m to raise your sec to under full pie and another 150m to be able to go to above 0.2 (assuming current Jita prices).

Thanks sqaut. Couldn't find any yesterday to kill. Don't have the isk to buy any. I think I may have better luck in 0.1-0.2 systems.

Basically, the level of tags spawned is depends on the sec status of the lowsec system ie: bronze 'Trainer' tags spawn in 0.4 and platinum 'Negotiator' tags spawn in 0.1

Bronze and gold tags needed to drop to -5 are only 2m each on the market and you just need one 'Recruiter' tag to drop you under -5, making you no longer full pie.

I have never played this game, in part because it seems so damn intimidating reading a thread like this. Yet, I find it really intriguing! Phone Post
