Indeed! :(

My K-bells were mocking me too while I was there. The ones I have at home were full on LOLing at me while I was doing my therapy rubberband stretches and movements and half-ass hindu squats.

I ended up buying the Timex that's like $40 on Amazon-- I feel like my HR is overstated, I've been running at 185 towards the end of my workouts and nowhere near sprinting.. I'm in great shape too btw so it's not like I'm fat Phone Post

Yeah, I'd take a look at your caffeine intake, seriously. Earlier in the thread I linked a consumer reports article which tested the major brands, and for the most part they were pretty accurate. Check it out.

184 seems pretty high, dude.

FCTV: It's probably because you don't run a lot(?), and you're used to doing those other exercises (roll, bag hitting, plyos, etc.). Your body is efficient at completing these tasks and thus uses minimal energy. A marathon runner in a swimming pool looks out of shape; a swimmer trying to run a marathon, etc. Hope that helps..

I've had heart rate monitors on many people (both out-of-shape and in-shape), and found that some people just seem to naturally operate at a level that I previously believed they were supposed to explode at.

I did lots of research, and came to this conclusion: Heart rate training is great because it gives objective feedback, but the guidelines are like placing people into insurance categories; they are a very broad generalization. Still, they should improve across the board with proper training. Train for HR based on what is normal for you, not on what you think normal is.

Later on, I had a client that was a heart transplant recipient. Even after all the hours of reading I had done, I still triple checked with his doctor cause his extremely high heart rate would scare the shit out of me.
