I got tired of paying $10/lb for lunch meat, so I bought a turkey breast roast for about $3.50/lb.

What I didn't expect was the really like it. I thought it would be a chopped, pressed mess.

Turns out it's a whole breast.

I think I might try abandoning the whole bird next year, and just getting a few of these. I'm the only one who eats dark meat, and I can live without it. I smother it in gravy anyway.

I'm thinking I could roast one, smoke one and fry one for about the same price as a turkey, and have some nice variety.

The biggest downside would be the lack of drippings for gravy, but I can make due.

Wait... I make broth from the bones too.

Hmmmmmm...

This will require further thought.

I just smoke turkey regular breasts for lunch meat.  I usually let it sit in the fridge overnight or at least a few hours before taking it to the mandolin.  Easier to slice when cold.  I haven't tried one of those roasts.
