“I can’t wait for the fight to see Tito get his ass kicked, I think that’s what’s going to happen,” Vladdy Matyushenko told MMAWeekly.comy. “You never know. I think he’s still in good shape. I can’t wait because I want to fight either of those guys. I want to fight both of them, but whoever wins I think will be a good match-up to fight me.

“I’d put money on (Nogueira), but it’s MMA. It’s fun to watch because you never know.”

Matyushenko has history with both fighters, inside and outside the UFC. The Russian born fighter stepped in on short noticed after an injury forced Vitor Belfort out of UFC 34, and Matyushenko took the chance and ended up losing a decision to Tito Ortiz in the main event on the card.

Meanwhile, Matyushenko has already had two fights against Nogueira. Matyushenko holds a win in 2002 over the Brazilian, and the pair rematched under the Affliction banner in 2009, with Nogueira coming out on top.

The Janitor has sour grapes. Ortiz won when it mattered. What is the point now?

I rember that fight well. Going into the ring, it was the first time that Vladdy ever looked stressed. He was always calm but either Tito got in his head, or the 5 mill people watching him got to him.

He should have won that fight. He just wasn't himself.

So you are saying there were 5 million in the stands at UFC 33? That's gotta be a record no?

I hate when people say he stepped in on short notice like he wasn't training or making it sound like that. He was supposed to fight Kevin Randleman that card and Belfort got hurt then he took Tito fight instead and got beaten all five rounds and now is sad about it.

I was there live too, UFC's opening event in Vegas after the Fertitas took it over. Two weeks after sept 11 2001. Totally a wierd vibe in the air in vegas. Upside, real easy to get into any restaraunt with no wait.

Going into the fight many thought Vlad would be a tough test for Tito due to his wrestling background. He put an end to that talk quickly by pretty much man-handling the janitor. This was back when Tito had a good up top pummeling game

The article was more directed at fighting the winner of Tito/Lil Nog.

Vladdy went after Tito in that fight, and Tito did the lay n’ pray of the century...and that was when he was considered unstoppable.

Either way, a rubber match with Lil Nog or a rematch with Tito would be entertaining. 3 pioneers of the sport that are still competing competitively.

I thought Vladdy was going to win..back then a guy from the RAW Camp used to post here all the time as well, can't recall the poster's name.

Big Cat Tom Erikson posted a lot back then as well, and I thought he was going to be the next big thing for years as well. He even posted his thoughts about his loss to Heath Herring, and was very honest about it.

I'd love to see the Janitor vs Tito again.  Vladdy wins the rematch imo.

Vladdy was trying to impress people by striking with Tito. That gave Tito the chance to shoot under him and take Vladdy down. He should have done what Randy did, just take him down and pound him.

I'll state the obvious as well:

it matters how you lose.
