Whats your list?

Name me players that don't nearly get the mainstream recognition they should.

Mid 1990s David Robinson. He could score and defend.

Prime Chris Webber.

And pre-injury Larry Johnson was a great player.

Dominique Wilkins also doesn't get the respect he should get for being a true legend of the game.

I'm really liking some of your old school names WALES. Good choices.

Ill also add George Gervin and Moses Malone to the list.

It's a shame Alonzo Mourning and Larry Johnson hated each other.

If they had got on then the Charlotte Hornets might of had a different future.

Once Johnson's back went he was never the same player.

I'd also add Shawn Kemp, Detlef Schrempf and Mark Price to the list.

 current guys
andrew bogut-the bucks have quietly turned into a top 10 def team the past few seasons and he is the anchor of their d.  hes a solid scorer combined with great rebounding and one of the best shot blockers in the nba

kevin martin-only the internet stat geeks and hardcore nba fans give him any love.  casual fans that only tune in for the heat, lakers or celts probably couldn't even tell you he's playing for the rockets this season

russ westbrook-granted he's been getting more recognition lately, but still not enough.  doesn't see a fraction of the hype durant does, yet it could be argued that this season, he's the most important player on OKC

the hawks-especially joe johnson and al horford.  johnson gets paid like the top talent he is, but gets zero media love

former players
outside of NYC, its hard to find anybody that recognizes how great mark jackson was

ill toss another PG in there with john stockton.....to keep up the level of play that he was able to for so long is amazing.  he was steve nash before steve nash, only with infinitely better defense.  sure he was on the dream team, and the nba's 50 greatest of all time they did back in the 90s, but his name is rarely even brought up nowadays and generally if it is, its only mentioned with malone's name and in reference to their lack of titles not any of their achievements

Isiah redefined the PG position. He made the position more about scoring and less about "running the offense."

^^^Great call.

MD, it's a matter of opinion. Every players get's talked about, but do they get the level of respect they deserve?

I don't think Caron Butler quite gets the recognition he deserves. When healthy, he's a beast. Also, Brandon Roy.

I would say the Admiral, C Webb, Grandmama, Nique, The Reign Man, Schrempf, and Price (white guys dont get cool nicknames most of the time :) all got the level of respect they deserve, and for those that know basketball (not teenagers that think Lebron or Kobe are the greatest to ever play) they still do.

Id agrue that virtually every player listed here (that is retired) got the respect they deserved, its just this need breed of basketball fan doesnt know much more than the last couple years, much less players from multiple decades ago. Which is too bad.

Floppy might disagree about Chris Webber and his gimpy knee. We won't even bring up time outs.
