Perhaps the chickens have come home to roost on the mega church prosperity gospel. These numbers are staggering considering the past numbers of virtually nill

God is allowing the folly of our many ponzi schemes to come to fruition. Our govt is in the process of destroying private wealth. The church, the financial institutions, individual and private wealth, are at grave risk. If God allows, we will be living in interesting, challenging, exciting, dangerous, and very different times.

I would of hoped for more. I wonder why God didnt provide for them ? Surely they believed in their heart God ordained them to have the facilities.

im sick of seeing preachers preach about prosperity and nothing else. sure God wants us to prosper, but its not just for US! we are to bless others with our wealth, (not just financial)

its like some are in one extreme, others in another.

but let me just say that anyone proclaiming peace and prosperity in times to come are seriously missing it...its about to get bad folks

true, true gord...but im not saying it will be nothing but doom and gloom. those who are IN Christ will have a strong foundation, but those who merely proclaim him without letting him have all of their lives will be in for a rude awakening (and i do hope it actually is an AWAKENING) when things progress for the worse. thats all im saying.

I find it peculiar that the rise of the mega churches is based only on prosperity. Period. Financial, relationships, personal achievment, etc. There are no downsides presented. Its like a christian version of tony robbins. I call them 'hope sellers'. I read a statistical report that showed that out of christians and atheists, Born agains have a higher divorce rate, higher or same lying, porn viewing, etc than the world. So what good are any of these churches doing. Its like a grand business scheme.

The great entrepeneurial spririt of America is infused into pastors who master marketing and selling skills branch out on their own and use coorporate models to build a church. Its like a huge mansion built on sand ( Yes i know what jesus said ) but this is so applicable. They have no foundations. The wind blows or the tied rolls in and there is nothing to help them withstand the downside of life. I think that this period of christianity, with all the TV, mega churches etc will be looked at as a historically significant period of abberant christianity.

What's particularly ironic about this is how the early Christians were persecuted. Crucified upside down, stoned to death, fed to lions, not a lot of prosperity there but according to these prosperity gospel preachers God wants everyone to have a life of abundance. Why does he want it for modern Americans and not for the early Christians or those sneaking into house meetings in China or Korea or the Middle East?

That was probably works based salvation those people were going for so they weren't really "saved."
