i need to send a letter (on my own behalf) for personal reasons and wanted to use my firm's letter head for that extra "umph"...is there a rule against this or do firms typically have policies against this? is it somehow implying that I am a client of the firm?

i am in CA by the way

I never use letterhead for personal reasons, but other than potential conflicts, I am not sure there is a rule against it.

Seriously? That is like day 1 stuff. They told us as summer associates about horror stories of people doing that and it ended up being a firm client... FIRED.

LOL. Not trying to be a dick. Just thought everyone at a big firm got this speech like 1000 times already. And you are like a year or two ahead of me from what I remember.
