The pre-fight trash talk between Jorge Rivera and Michael Bisping carried over into the Octagon and exploded when Bisping drilled Rivera with a knee to the head midway through the first round.

Rivera’s manager, Lex McMahon, called for action against Bisping:
“Mr. Bisping is a professional fighter. He needs to be able to differentiate between a downed opponent and a non-downed opponent. If he can’t do that, he needs to not be in this sport. His conduct was irrational, hot-headed and incredibly unprofessional.”

After referee Marc Goddard stopped the fight, Bisping allegedly spit in the direction of Rivera's boxing coach, Matt Phinney.

Bisping claims he didn’t spit on Phinney. Rivera’s camp disagrees. Video shows Bisping spitting, but not where it landed.

UFC president Dana White said Bisping will be punished for intentionally delivering the illegal knee. White also voiced his displeasure with Bisping’s post-fight antics.

“Mr. Bisping needs to be suspended and fined,” McMahon said. “Frankly, I wouldn’t be upset to see him thrown out of the UFC. His actions aren’t acceptable. If MMA is a growing sport, its fighters need to be role models. It’s one thing to promote a fight, but it’s an entirely different matter altogether to act in an unprofessional manner that places the health and welfare of a competitor in jeopardy."

So let me get this straight.

Rivera's camp posts incredibly insulting videos on the internet that are specifically directed at a particular nation, along with many other innapropriate comments.

They then say that Bisping should be kicked out of the UFC because fighters need to be role models?!

Both  camps made mistakes. Bisping has apologized. Rivera's camp has not.

Most thinking adults clearly see the difference between words and actions.

I mean, equating a video full of insults and jokes to cheating and spitting on people........

wtf how old are you?

It is time for Rivera to tell his management and camp to stop talking about this.  It is not a good look at this point.  You said your piece, move on.

I am not justifying Bisping's actions. He should not have spit at all, no matter whether it was at a person or on the ground. He apologized as he realized it was out of line. If they punish Bisping, I can completely understand.

With that said, Rivera's camp clearly made mistakes too. While there is certainly a difference between words and actions, words still have an impact. Rivera's camp should apologize as well.

I am not arguing as to which camp acted worse. They both made mistakes, and one has admitted it while the other has not.

Bisping needs to thank his lucky charms his knee didn't do real damage, like say a broken orbital, he would have found his pockets quite a bit lighter, and possibly out of a job...

GodSaveTheQueen - SHUT THE FUCK UP RIVERA'S CAMP.

It would be easier to take if it was Rivera himself actually doing all this talking BUT I DON'T SEE RIVERA ANYWHERE. I just see his fuckwit manager and his meat biscuit-eating boxing coach yapping. They just use Rivera as a mouthpiece and a stepping stone to get more fame for themselves. Just like with the pre-fight videos. None of that was Rivera. It was all his management/boxing trainer.

Rivera, tell your people to shut the fuck up.

I notice you left out Bisping's purposefully-thrown illegal knee. Or his blatant fence grab.

I presume you are British?

Ecko Unltd - They both made mistakes

See, this is glossing over what happened and equating what they did.

What Bisping did was embarrass the sport by purposefully cheating and spitting on people.

Jorge did nothing even close to either ACTION. Words don't mean shit in comparison.

Again, you must be British. They don't mind poor character or cheating and will excuse any behavior due to their collective insecurity regarding Britain's place as a third-world country in 2011.

Which they deserve 100%.

Spitting on another person is assault here in the U.S.

That's a CRIME.

Do you know the definition of "crime" or have you not gotten that far in school yet?

No I am not British, but that shouldn't matter.

You cannot know whether Bisping through that knee legally or not. The fence grab was certainly illegal, but that is something that is rarely punished and certainly doesn't warrant a suspension.

Your blatent British bashing is also ridiculous. Statements like your final statement shows that you cannot think about this issue without bias.

I don't think he got in trouble for that. I do know that he spent some time in jail for breaking and entering into a woman's back door.
