Royce Gracie is in continuing negotiations with the promotion to appear in a retirement fight at the Brazilian event, which is expected to take place Aug. 27 at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro.

Mike Kogan, Royce's longtime manager, said he and Gracie are talking directly with UFC president Dana White and UFC executive Lorenzo Fertitta about the prospect of bringing the 44-year-old MMA legend back into the octagon one last time against a specific – but undisclosed – opponent.

"I think we're going to make a deal," Kogan said. "We have plenty of time, so there's really no problems. It's just a matter of getting it nailed down."

"As of right now, we don't have a deal in place," he said. "The UFC might yank this fight altogether and be like, 'On second thought, we don't want to do it.' This is not a done deal. We're interested in fighting; we have talked about it a lot. Most of the basic terms are agreed upon. But we haven't signed."

Kogan said the potential fight could take place at welterweight, middleweight, or a catchweight between the two divisions.

Royce is the reason most of us got into MMA. I hope they can give him a winnable fight and let him retire in the UFC where he started the right way. I have no problems with the Gracie family besides Royler who gives the worst seminars of life but that is a different thread all together.

obv not if its at ww or mw

I've always thought it would be Shamrock at LHW.

Royce = 186 lbs.
Ken = 205 lbs.

I really want to see this fight, probably more than Royce vs. Sak.

Exactly, it says catchweight is possible

that's how a legend should go out,with everyone knowing he got thrown a bone? i don't even think he wants that and i wouldn't want to see it. if this is his last fight,let him go balls out one last time...

he can go balls out without fighting a prime champ ...no one is saying give him butterbean or something stupid but give him something that will be competitive not a bloodbath like most of the roster

Fred Ettish is the right choice. Fred is a UFC veteran. Probably around the same size as Royce also. Two old school warriors going at it. There is no way they will feed him to Hughes again and embarass him in his own country.

GSP!!! Naw they wouldn't do that. That would be unfair.

Maia would be cool to see but he's about to fight Munoz.

Penn vs. Gracie would be cool.

Anderson would destroy him, no offense. He's too big.

Hughes would be pointless. Pretty much same thing might happen.

Almeida would be intersting.

Nate Diaz would be hilarious to watch.

Or maybe Gracie vs. Gracie with him fighting Renzo? j/k
