Sometimes I'll take one of my muscle relaxers if I can't sleep. I took Ambien before and stopped after driving to work the next morning and felt like I was dreaming while driving there. Effect lasted an hour or so after "waking up" even after 3-4 cups of coffee.

I recommend Melatonin and a fat joint. I travel loads for work so get bad jet lag and that combo works every time.

Anything not OTC you will have rebound insomnia after you quit so i would stick with the natural stuff, sleep aids are a terrible addiction.

I'd go with Lunesta instead of Ambien. Ambien can be addictive.

I've taken Ambien before and make SURE you go to bed... and hope you don't get woken up in the middle of your slumber. You can have ENTIRE conversations and wake up the next morning remembering NONE of it.

Lunesta is still addictive , taking anything to fall asleep will become extremely habit forming if not something natural like exercise or melatonin. Bad news imo, even the otc stuff you can lose sleep after you stop taking it.

For everyone too smug to listen...

Why Sleeping Pills Don’t Work

The chronic use of sleeping medications like Lunesta can be troublesome and ineffective for many reasons:

* For genuinely deep rest, we need dream or REM sleep and that doesn’t happen with drugs.

* Even if the pills work, guess what happens when you stop? You guessed it – insomnia reigns supreme once again!

* And, naturally, many people become physically and mentally dependent on the drug, just the way Karen did. Many are persuaded that sleep isn’t an option without a handy, dandy little capsule.

* Many sleepers are curious about why they feel like they have a hangover the next day – when they’re had nothing at all to drink. The sleeping pill is the cause.

* The medications lose their effectiveness when used on a nightly basis–and the patient is indeed directed to take them every night. The brain receptors become less sensitive to the effects. In as little as three to four weeks, many sleeping pills become no more effective than a sugar pill.

So whenever you spy a Lunesta commercial with the lovely green butterfly floating around a person who is sleeping serenely and deeply, don’t forget about the horrors of Lunesta withdrawal and resolve to end your restless nights a different way.

Have taken:

Temazepam

Diazepam

Ambien

Ambien CR

Seroquel (low dose)

I think Seroquel and Ambien are good. I alternate between Ambien and Seroquel.

Start with melatonin and sleep hygeine (basically a set of rules for being disciplined about sleeping habits).  If those don't work see a doctor.

1 melatonin is all you should take.  If it doesn't work forget about it.  Be ready for some vivid dreams.

Wow first sensible advice on this thread, You pussies are so worried about losing 10 minutes of beauty sleep you dont actually give a fuck about the benefits of good sleep. Ya let me make a list of addictive medications that make me pass out the fastest cause no one on the OG is an athlete or anything / sarcasm

That sarcastic part wasnt torwards you ridgeback the ignorance towards the subject of healthy sleep on this board is astounding though, The first thing people are jumping at are drugs, id rather lose 3 hours of sleep and workout the next day, then take ambien and ruin my body and not feel up to any fitness the next day.

I have been taking Ambien and Ambien CR for about two years now. I am not totally
dependent on them but I work 12 hour shifts, so by the time I get home and unwind it's pretty late.

Take an Ambien when I work the next day and I don't have to worry about tossing and turning all night. Never have a hangover so I think there are worse things you could get hooked on for sure.

The Ambien CR is less addictive and I seem to stay asleep a bit longer, but the regular Ambien works just as well, just don't sleep as long but feel rested with both.

There are some crazy vivid dreams at first and sleep eating occasionally but that is kinda fun IMO.

Less adictive, youve been taking it for two years, and your addiction reeks in this post, you need it to fucking sleep how more addictive could you get. And you may be working hard but its not like your running long distance you dont know how it fucking effects your body over long time and your performance. Im addicted to dope but at least its not crack! and not totally dependent, ya try to quit then homie, terrible fucking advice, it disgust me how many people will just willynilly tell you to take a narcotic cause you cant manage your fucking sleep schedule, or go through the next day tired till you can catch up on sleep. See you in ten years a wreck from a god dam sleeping pill cause being up an extra hour bothered you to much.

I was simply trying to state that there are worse things that he could be taking. Yes they are habit forming but he wont be breaking out in a sweet and shaking like a junkie.

Horrible withdraw = cant sleep?

Get over it. But I guess you are going to prescribe a joint now right?

When you quit smoking weed, you dont need to go to the fucking hospital to detox, and you wil break out and sweat like a junkie its a fucking narcotic wait till your body craves it. Its not like there is no evidence backing my claims, look it up there thousand of horror stories of people withdrawing from ambien online, good luck finding people wanting to kill themselves cause they dont have a joint, But your probably hating weed from highschool and cause the athletes smoke it while you think whatever you take is so much better just cause Big pharm companies let a doctor right it on a piece of paper, it will make your isnomnia a thousand times worse if you take that shit for a week, unlike you i was prescribed ambien and quit cause i could function but not be an athlete, weed have never been determental to my performance, i can smoke weed and lift, good luck tryin that on ambien

ANd yes horrible withdrawal = no sleep you do not sleep at all form withdrawal when i quit ambien after a couple weeks of using i stayed up for a week straight until i hallucinated, everytime i would go to sleep i would have a thirty minute vivid nightmare and break out in sweats, it was like somethign out of a fucking movie. Im not exagerating it, and haha im not dependant ive just been takin it for two years, dude i smoke but regulary go weeks and months without it and wouldnt think twice, you would suck a dick for an ambien after youve been up for a week straight in the most pain of your life when you try to quit, not likely with weed homie. Look up the facts you are completely ignorant

First off I do have a script for my Ambien and secondly I agree that weed does have many benefits but unfortunately its not legal where I live.

So Im guessing that is this guy is having trouble sleeping, so getting arrested and losing his job isn't going to help right?

I wasnt telling him to take it for an extended period of time.

And if I were addicted wouldn't I take it every night, and not mostly on work nights?
