I'd still be bothered by it, too. One of the most one sided, out of no where beatdowns the UFC has ever had and it came after years of him running the mw division. He probably didn't think he could be beat at that point. Phone Post

Anderson was Rich's first real test in that division imo.

Some? He had a decision with Wandy that could have gone either way, and went to him, and a decision with Hendo that could have gone either way, and went to Hendo. Rich isn't exactly winning BS decisions left and right...

So just the first fight bothered him?

I take it you didn't watch the video? He explains his reasoning.

DarkReflection - Good to hear Rich say he's bigger than Silva after all this talk by people on here about how Silva is too big for 185.

Cheers

-DR
Not sure if serious...

Rich had a hell of a cut to 185 and always looked huge in his fights at 185. And Rich started out as a 205er...so what's confusing about him being bigger than Andy? Just because one guy is bigger than you doesn't mean you're not big yourself.

^ What Rich says is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is that Anderson Silva is content with beating smaller guys, and cutting from 275 lbs to fight at Middleweight. -Monsters Ball Phone Post

He shouldn't worry too much about completely under-estimating Anderson's clinch game for that first fight. Nothing he could have done in that camp would have changed anything. Anderson was beating his ass that night and re-arranging his face regardless.

A hard fight to watch, I can think of few fights where you could so clearly see the look of hopelessness and defeat in a fighter's face.

Mid way through that bludgeoning, Rich had a look on his face the clearly showed that he knew he had absolutely no chance of winning, and was going to take a real drubbing.

Kudos to him for continuing to fight and not roll over, but it was just going through the motions at that point.

Hard fight to watch to say the least... That was one of the few times I actually felt scared for a fighter. He honestly looked scared to death when he realized there was nothing he could do to defend himself. Felt pretty bad for Rich in that fight.

shell of a former man. the fight is gone, or teetering on questionable.

franklin was hot when lee murray was still in the ufc. he needs to get over his face if he ever wants to contend again.

Rich had a nice run there for a while, he probably still has a few good fights left, I don't think he's completely done yet.

Wat?  He's won 1 decision since the second Anderson fight and it was a fight he clearly won against Wandy (although delusional Wand fans will have you think differently because they think Wand should never lose a decision ever)

I'm not a fanboy by any means but Wand won that fight and should have gotten the decision.

I'm glad Rich made that size comment because there are too many idiots like MB and NPD who claim that Anderson only beats up on smaller guys. Phone Post

No he didn't, he barely landed anything, he swung and missed a lot.  I'll go look up the fight metric on that fight, I have a strong suspicion it confirms my opinion over yours.
