yeah wrong eye !

Isn't his type of striking defense with the grabbing and plodding jabbing grabbing , one that might more likely have fingers exposed,

Subject:

UFC 129 - Eye pokes from Jake Shields v GSP

--

Hello,

Multiple illegal blows (eye pokes) were used on Georges St-Pierre in his bout with Jake Shields at UFC 129.

In several pictures and videos, Shields can be seen jabbing GSP with his hand wide open and push his fingers in GSP's eyes. Sometimes opening his hand just before making contact.

This happened multiple time during the fight.

These illegal strikes were not noticed and unfairly gave an advantage to Shields as St-Pierre could not see from his left eye after this serie of illegal blows.

Not only that, this is very dangerous.

Can this be looked into?

Thanks.

Please see the evidence below:

Before the Hendo fight, I wasn't much of a Shields fan. After that epic win over Henderson, he made me a fan because I could see what everyhone was talking about regarding his toughness and heart.

After viewing all the video and pictorial evidence regarding his blatant attempts to foul his way to a championship belt, I've lost all respect for him, and am no longer a fan.  I realize that someone with the kind of low character to commit such blatant and obvious fouls probably doesn't give a shit what I think, but there it is.

EDIT: As far as I'm concerned, his corner and his trainers are equally to blame for his disgusting actions, and should be held accountable as well. Given the consistent attempts to foul his opponent, one can only surmise that was their game-plan all along.

I just emailed Cesar Gracie's Sports Center, perhaps they'll comment. Included all the links.

I'm a HUGE gsp fan, and I don't know if there is proof of anything here. It could very well be poor technique.

I don't think you should rush to judgement on anything until you have proof positive.

To me that's not even the point.

That is was "intentional" or not doesn't change that it happened multiple times and could have had even more severe implications that it has.

A fighter losing his eye for one.

It doesn't seem like anyone was warned for this behavior.

If anything, Shields's next opponent could be spared being eye poked.

For that, someone from Shields's camp or the AC acknowledge this was a problem.

This hasn't had the attention it deserve.

Poor technique, good technique, intentional, unintentional, dirty, clean, coward, hero.....it doesn't make a flyin' f_ck......

1) If the ref (or any ringside authority) see any punch that is thrown with "fingers out"

2)STOP the fight

3) Take a point

Same as kick to groin

If he throws another "fingers out" punch.....DQ

I would have been a huge Chuck Liddel fan but he threw many many many "fingers out" punches in his career. And once he got his opponent thinking about getting a finger (or thumb) into his eye, well good'ol Chuck now had him all set up for the KO......

jimbobyeaboy - LOL at the GSP fans trying to redirect the the heat from GSP's boring fighting style to this very obviously unintentional eye poke. <img src="/images/phone/post_tag.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>

It appears there is alot more than pictures / videos on just one. Seems like shields thought punching required a thumb out or an open hand.

That's pretty damning. When a fighter does an open handed finger rake to the eye like that they should have some sort of fine or suspension.

That is the most obviously intentional eyepoke I have ever seen besides John Hess' fight against Andy Anderson...

I'd thought it completely unintentional and didn't think much of it, but those clips are pretty damning. Phone Post

I thought GSP was just being dramatic when talking about not being able to see out of his eye, but at the end the eyeball was filled with blood and pretty scary looking.

I really didn't see so many eye pokes when I watched the fight.  I'll have to watch it again and try to count them.

Poor technique or not this sort of thing can really hurt somebody and Jake should be held accountable.

It shouldn't matter if it was on purpose or by accident its obvious he poked GSP more than once and should either stop cheating or learn how to throw a punch before he fights again.

I think it happened at 3:29 of round 3. Jake zombie-rushed him with outstretched fingers and Georges immediately felt for his eye afterward.
