Pivot
Circle
Side Step
Jump Rope
Shadow Box

Do 2-3 rounds of each exercise/drill, 5 days a week. You will dancing circles around your sparing partners.

One thing I regret from my amateur boxing days was not working on my footwork. I focused more on conditioning and sparring. I fought to flatfooted and got outboxed by a couple guys who I should have beaten had I developed good footwork and the ability to cut off the ring.

I havent read any of the posts on this thread so these might have been said already but here are some basic footwork drills that have helped me tremendously.

I just call it the square -
Get in your boxing stance and dont throw any punches, just focus on your footwork and bobbing n weaving if you get comfortable with it.
Pretty much step forward with your lead foot and follow with your back foot, not too big of a step but not too small. When you move right, your right foot moves right first, followed by your other foot. When you move backwards, back foot moves back first. When you move left, left foot moves left first. Then forward step again, etc. You just make a small square. Make sure not to lift your feet too high off of the ground though or it'll be easy to knock you over. Also keep your guard up while youre doing it, stay on the balls of your feet, and never cross your legs. It'll get really easily after a while but trust me, youre never too good to stop doing the basics.

Then you have your normal "grapevine". But im sure everyone already knows what that is. Just remember to keep your guard up at all times.

Frog leaps up and down a hill are also really good for leg muscles. Phone Post

One thing I forgot to add about the grapevine, don't just focus on your feet and keeping your guard up, try and really twist your waist with it too. It'll help you build up that feeling of really turning into your punches and putting alot more power into them. Phone Post

I like this one: step in, step out, pivot.

With the footwork drilled in conjunction with defense and not in isolation.

Miguel Cotto being trained by a former coach of the Cuban Olympic boxing team. Practicing movement and pivots on sand probably strengthens the legs and feet something fierce.
