One of the very important concepts in liberation theology is the idea that we actually must insert ourselves into the bibles story of liberation. And from this engagement with each other, with the powers, and with the Spirit we are then able to interpret the scriptures outside of our own cultural bias.

When we see how hard it is to live in real community we understand how we must apply Matt 18. When we are actually living with the poor we see how the powers both religious and political are set against them and we understand Ephesians 6 we see the lessons in Matthews nativity story ect

When we start with the text and reflect on it we will always read our bias into it and as we in middle class America are not a despised oppressed minority in a hostile world we will miss much of what is said

Therefore liberation theology calls us to get involves in the kingdom and the community of faith enter the fray and from that position of action we can reflect on scripture
