the NY Daily News thinks Assembly Leader Sheldon Silver has killed the bill for this year.

clearly, zuffa's suitcases full of cash haven't reached Silver's office.  this reminds me of the Wire, when Stringer Bell kept giving Clay Davis money and Davis was ultimately just milking him for dough.

The fact that its not legalized in NY is still mind bottling to me... This is the state with the biggest sports city in the world in it and they don't have the world's most rapidly growing sport (popularity wise) legalized. Iwould have thought they would be the first

It's safe to say that Sheldon Silver is a certified piece of white-collar trash.

I think if the people that love this sport act out he will have no choice but to listen.

Let's all contact Sheldon Silver's offices and let him know what the people think of MMA.

These oldies are just biding their time in the senate. I can’t see their stance changing regardless of outside pressure. The culinary unions simply have way too much political power for this change to take place in the near future. It’s just a matter of time before fresher faces are put into power and MMA gets sanctioned, but unfortunately for MMA fans, that will take awhile.

However, this isn’t 2003. The UFC doesn’t need New York to grow anymore and should refocus its recourses on other markets.

New York sucks. There is a reason why everyone is "voting with their feet" and LEAVING.

This guy is one of the biggest things wrong with the place. He's fucked up a lot more than MMA.

For starters, there are basically no ethics laws in NYS. Elected officials like this assclown are not required to disclose their outside income. This scumbag is reported to get millions from a personal injury law firm, so he blocks any legislation aimed at tort reform.

I laughed at everyone who two or three weeks ago got so excited, thinking that MMA was coming to New York.

It obviously wasn't going to be pass the assembly.
