Well, not really, but sort of.

I was just wondering if there was any interest in seeing some of my guitar repairs documented here.

Just sort of a photo essay with commentary going over  some recent jobs. I thought of it because I'm just getting started on replacing a fingerboard on an Ibanez guitar with a very exotic one that has new intervals based on an eastern scale and HUGE gold tinged frets going in.

Anyone want to see it?

As long as the guitar humping is tastefully done.

I must go out of town for a few days, but I assure you the pics will appear.

The first couple jobs I'm going to show are a Kay semi-hollow guitar getting a new pickguard and electronics, and an Ibanez 7 string solid body being turned into something new and wonderful.

If this works out I'll try to continue it with other types of things. Maybe a step by step set up your guitar for wicked low action set.

I'm back and the job is progressing.
In a day or two I'll start posting pics and descriptions of the work. Basically it's a fingerboard replacement with a twist or two.

HHMBHLM, what's your hurry? Nothing else to do?

Maybe you should go on a spiritual retreat like I just did and relax. It feels good.

A few days of Yoga, meditation and soaking in the hot springs will do wonders! :)

It all begins with an Ibanez 7 string guitar:

A combination of heat from the killer hair dryer and gentle persuation from the modified putty knife relieve the neck of it's standard fingerboard(most of it).

The fingerboard will not survive this process, obviously. To avoid heat damage to the neck, I heated from the fingerboard side only. This turned the binding to taffy and the fingerboard into a boomerang.

The rosewood that refused to leave with the rest of the FB is removed with a VERY sharp chisel.

This is a good time for my disclaimer:

Don't try this at home. I have spent longer than many of you have been alive figuring this stuff out.

Pestilence, death, and peace without honor likely await the fool who undertakes vast projects with half-vast ideas! BEWARE! Beware! beware! *voice fades in ominous echo*

Seriously, be careful. Don't ruin your guitar or body. Keep tools sharp. Measure twice, cut once, blah, blah, blah.
