The second of 11 children—all to different fathers—Charles Daniel Bennett II, whose parents were both crack cocaine users, was born into a broken home in Ocala, Florida in the winter of 1979.

After dropping out of high-school, where he starred on his football squad’s defensive line, Bennett, the self-proclaimed “black sheep of his family,” focused his attention on selling narcotics, until the birth of his first child.

“I had a kid—a little boy—and I didn’t want to be selling dope and taking care of a kid. I knew the risk was too much and I wouldn’t be able to take it if I had to be locked up and be away from my son,” said Bennett in an exclusive interview with Ed Kapp.

“I quit selling dope and started fighting fulltime, but I never took is seriously—it was just that I was good at it, so I felt that I didn’t have to train.”

“When I was in the county jail, a lot of officers and motherf------s that were coming in and out of jail were coming in and saying, you know, ‘motherf-----, I just saw you on BET with TI and Young Dro and all these motherf------s.’ Every time that I would turn around, officers and people that were coming in and out of jail would come up to me and be like, ‘Dude, you’re too talented for this s---.’”

“When I got 22 losses, I realized that I needed to train. These guys are training every day, all day and, in order to compete with these motherF-----s, I have to do the same thing.”

“I’ve been training at (FIT/NHB in Albuquerque, New Mexico) everyday for five weeks and I’ve got three more weeks to go before the fight. This is, by far, the first time that I’ve put in this much work.”

“I love Team Trauma in Florida, but FIT really has a lot of great 155-pounders to a lot of good 180-pounders—they have a lot of guys at this gym that are really good. It’s a pleasure to be here.”

“To do for (my children), better than what someone did for me feels really good. When they get my age and have kids, they’ll know that their kids are very, very important. My children are very, very important to me and I don’t know what I’d do without them.”

“I’m very family-oriented. I didn’t have a family growing up; I was always the ‘black sheep.’ I love kids; I love to see kids and parents interacting. I’ve got the utmost respect for dudes that stay involved in their kids’ lives. We—as men—are looked at to have kids and then just move the f--- on and not be involved in the kid’s life after we move on. I take a lot of pride in being a part of my kids’ lives and giving them a better upbringing than the one I had. That’s my number-one priority.”

“The future holds a lot, bro. I’ve got big plans for my family and I in the future. The future is very bright.”

I thought he was banned from FIT NHB after attacking a teammate with a piece of steel. They're some very forgiving dudes if they let him back in.

Rookerman - A lot of you joined in the last few years and don't know much about him. He was extremely talented and probably would have been the LW GOAT had he taken his career seriously.

LMAO.  Yeah, if only he had taken it seriously he would have killed prime BJ Penn.

jjj2121 -  He's terrible in and out of the cage.
Actually I wouldnt mind seeing what he can do if he can stay out of trouble and just focus on fighting.

I will always like him for smacking that stupid smirk off of Noons face back in 07!

Was waiting for somebody to say this - nothing in his career suggests this besides athleticism and great KO power, his submission game has always been poor and I think he would have still been tapping to high-level (and probably even mid-level) guys whether he was training full-time or not.

Besides, it's not like his body and mind aren't one in the same. They share a co-existence, so no matter how talented Krazy Horse has been he's STILL a loose cannon of a personality and all it takes is one arrest to fuck shit up again (and for a man who has a GIF featuring all of his arrest photos, this can't be too difficult).

He'll lose to jobbers in KOTC if he doesn't land a random haymaker because he sucks.

He's a despicable human being.  How anyone can root for him to succeed is beyond me.

Well truthfully I have never been one to cheer for or against a guy for anything he does outside the cage.

I liked Randy despite the fact he cheated on 2 wives.
I liked Tito despite him fucking around on his wife and throwing his personal life with a porn star onto twitter.

Its just not something I take into consideration when cheering on an athlete.
I have always felt that if I hold any athlete up on a pedestal, I am going to be disappointed more than not.

So I will cheer for Bennett to do well in the cage because I like the fact he put Noons onto queer street and I am somewhat intrigued to see if he round out his game a bit!

rosario01 -  I guess he's at that point in his career where he experienced a life altering situation, those to revive you from obscurity Phone Post

Like Sugar Ray Leonard remembering someone molested him (but can't say who) just in time to sell a book.

Quote of the year.

Maybe Lionheart Blevins will also finally start putting in some work after 5 more losses.

What's sad is that had he been training even a bit more he could've easily been a 155lb. Rampage.
The guy is quick, strong, and his ability to slam the hell out of holds was pretty amazing.
Hell, the guy's fearless, too. He wouldn't back down from a confrontation with a whole team that was led by the top 205'er at the time.
CH's best days are probably long gone, but I'd love to see him show what he might've been capable of.

YouTube krazyhorse vs takanori gomi, Aka one of best sub grapplers in mma at time. He escaped so many damn submissions, Kimura, armbar, Americana... Over and over, so don't say guy don't have sub-defense, just shows you never watched his fights or even PRIDE for that matter Phone Post

Takanori Gomi is 6-5 in fights decided by submission, let's not pretend like he's Roger Gracie on the mat.  1 of his 6 wins is of course over KH, who is 7-16 in fights decided by submission, and a couple of KH's sub wins are sub due to strikes.

The thing about Crazy Horse's grappling is just how raw it was. He always reminded me of a wrestler on day 1 of BJJ. He doesn't do things "right" but he's going so hard and using so much effort that sometimes he makes things work.
His escapes against Gomi were more sheer force and will than anything he trained to do. I'd say that's the case in most of his bouts on the mat.
