A stretch in prison helped to preserve that record. That said, Spadafora was always very slick, but never possessed much punching power. I would have liked to have seen him matched up against some of the better fighters before he went away to jail and got old. If you look on youtube, I am sure that you cant find a video of him beating up an out of shape Floyd Mayweather in sparring.

He had immense talent but fucked up his career with drugs and multiple incarcerations.

ahhh I see , I didn't no about the prison and drugs , I did see a big gap in his record .

still , that's quite the record he got going lol . 45-0-1 . am I right in thinking that's the best record of any active fighter ? Purely from a numbers perspective . Phone Post

good boxing fundamentals, not a lot of speed and no power. Terrible human being.

Yep. There are three names the people always say what might have been:

Spadafora
Ibeaubuchi
Lopez Jr

It's a shame Paul's fight with Mayweather never happened. It would've been fun.

Lopez Jr. was fun to watch, but I am not sure that either him or Spadafora warrant much in the way of fantasy speculation. Speaking of scumbags who threw away their primes in prison though, I would add Tony Ayala to that list. It would have been interesting to see how good a 25 year-old Ayala would have been.

Ayala was a monster. It's just a shame he was a shell by the time he got out. Imagine him against Benitez and Hearns. Wow! Phone Post

Spaddy-huge heart and tough guy. Not a lot of power in his shots. A fighter's fighter-had the glove tattoo on his neck and actually used to ditch school when he was a kid to go to the gym.
