Hey guys,

Just looking to see who else here has a money pit/4wd?

Doesn't have to be a hardcore mudder/rock hopper/comp spec truck either.

Pics and stats please!

Mine:

1993 Nissan GQ Patrol(rebadged by Ford Aus. as the Maverick)
4.2 petrol/lpg dual fuel carbie
339,000km

2" suspension lift
31" Maxxis Buckshot mudders on 15x7sunraysia rims
12000lb Tigerz11 winch
Snorkel, dual batteries, power shower(don't laugh, it was in it when I bought it, lol), CB, quad spots

This is my Offroading/hunting/touring/camping rig. It's a bit thirsty, but it's solid as a rock.

Looking to convert it to EFI and chuck a turbo on at some point, but it's been a faithful workhorse thus far and has embarassed soem newer vehicles out bush too:-)

I might be putting a 1984 Jeep Laredo on the road in a few days. Trying to figure out how much I'll need to put into it to safety it (it's been off the road for around 3 years and sitting in a garage) and if it isn't a stupid amount I'll put the money into her.

Don't mean to thread jack, but would like some good 'welcome to off road' sort of advice. I've looked at local clubs but they all seem stupid protective of their trails and won't give any information out unless you join.

I won't (99% sure I won't away unless I really fall for the off roading) be modding her, just keeping it around as a work truck/occasional trail rides.

Any good advice on some entry level off road tires I can put on her. I'm sure she'll need tires so I might as well get something semi useful.

See if you can find a jeep forum and see if there's anyone near you. Get to know em, explain you're a beginner and see if you can tag along on group drives. Most people will be happy to show you the ropes.

Just finished putting a new head and timing chain kit in my 90 Toyota 2wd extra cab. Except its not 2wd anymore. I converted it a few years ago with all the fun Toyota accessories. 35's in the summer and pizza cutter 33's for winter, Marlin crawler dual transfer cases, front and rear electric lockers, 5.29 gears, solid axle swap, hysteer crossover steering etc etc etc. The guys I work with can't understand why I drive a 20 year old truck.

Of course it doesn't see much trail action with a quad around.

12" lift and only 39s?

I had 44s on my bronco with 9" and it cleared perfect. Your truck will TOwER over 39s! Hope you have axles to match those tires. 82 GM has a 10 front end, right? Needs a Dana 60, for sure.

i had 44's on it a few years ago, but it wont fit in my shop on them. it will tower over the 39's but squeek into my shop with them on.

This is our (dad and mine) mud drag truck.  38.5x11 Boggers, 400 big block bored and stroked to a 451 (estimated at around 600 h.p., give or take cuz we haven't been able to dyno it).  It has consistently been a top 3 truck almost anyplace we went last year.
