There are no soccer fields in the hood.

Based on number of persons representing boxing in the Olympics, Cincinnati is the mecca of gold gloves boxing.
Why blacks and not whites or other? The top boxing clubs are in the predominately black parts of town where whites are not welcome. The blacks were trained by former champions from the same gyms and the cycle continues.

Absolutely 100% incorrect. Anyone with the balls to show up and train hard will be accepted in those gyms, they just have to pay their dues.

I've been the sole white guy, or one of few white guys in several inner city gyms.

ten8round - so now he was shot before Glen and Tarver ? Phone Post

When he came back down in weight after the John Ruiz fight he was never really the same again.

You'll notice that no Americans call Tarver an all-time great based off his knockout of Roy. But for some reason Calzaghe is deified by UKers for his decision win over RJJ.

That's been my experience too. If you go there to put in work and make an effort to get along (without kissing ass) then most of the gym denizens warm up to you eventually.

PoundforPound - LOL @ Calzaghe's legacy being much stronger than Roy's. Are you trolling?

Calzaghe was only the second champion in history to retire undefeated. He cleared his division, held the championship for years, then moved up and cleared out the division above him. RJJ has nothing on that.

Joe is just lucky that by the time he finally grew a pair and came over to the States both RJJ and Hopkins were over 40.

Calzaghe was the champ, he didn't need to go to America. He went there anyway to dig out the stay-at-homes, and defeated both of them.

Hahahahaha

Calzaghe was an all time great for his career achievements. It's only Americans who like to pretend RJJ was the be-all and end-all of what he achieved.
