Interesting perspective from Frank here. I think a lot of UGers would agree with a lot of what he's saying even if you don't like Frank personally:

“That’s my point exactly,” Shamrock said. “But get this. I’d actually let her watch boxing. There’s a difference in professionalism.”

He's right

Sans Cara -
Douche - Frank is dropping some Knowledge.

WWE/MMA Fan wont like it though.

Please don't lump WWE in with MMA. WWE is a professional broadcast that is family friendly where you can actually take your young kids to a show.

sans cara loves mma

I disagree with Frank. MMA is definitely a sport. UFC has been redefining the word 'Sport'.

Shamrock will take any opportunity to bash Dana White. Look at the antics Frank has pulled outside the cage (clowning Phil Baroni).

If Olympic/amateur wrestling is a sport then so is MMA.

I bitch about the amount of decisions in MMA and the fact that it's not a "fight" anymore (with unified rules etc.). The ONE upside of those changes (since UFC 1) is that MMA is now a sport.

Or maybe just the UFC is a sport.
Either way...

Dana curses his brains out, the UFC hires its own TV announcers instead of the network hiring them, they blackball any media outlet that criticizes them and they don't want to allow the fighters any sort of representation.

How is that a real sport??

mma is a sport but its an interesting argument frank puts forward.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPudQF2PWBE

mma is the purest form of competition in the world. not tennis rackets, no balls, no nets, no substitutes. its the real deal.

"Because the UFC is a company and MMA is the sport. Are you really that dense?"

And UFC is the leading promoter in the sport, dick. They control 95 percent of the market.

MMA Fans: Gosh I wish Dana would wear a suit and act more professional

NBA Fans : Gosh I wish David Stern would interact with the fans more, tweet free tickets, and not walk around like he has a stick up his ass.

Frank is on the outside looking in. He's dying to be part of the UFC.

He thinks so little of the UFC's "professionalism" yet he's said that he would love to be part of the UFC's return to San Jose. If the UFC called and offered him a part in that event, He would be there in a heart beat.

I agree with some of his comments about the culture around MMA/UFC but that doesn't mean it's not a sport. In the end, It's about the athletes in the cage.

Yeah, that wasn't worth the time I spent reading it. Just another chance for Frank to act like Dana is all that is wrong with MMA.

I don't care, Frank, I just don't care.

They train and compete professionally at an activity that's main purpose is entertainment for an audience so they can gain revenue.

What the fuck do you call it if not a sport? A job?

who cares. watch it and shut up. if its not a "sport" who gives a fuck. i cant watch an inning of baseball even though i played for 11 years. i can watch a ufc event from facebook prelims to the end of the event, including spike prelims. what are sports trying to accomplish? they are trying to see who the best athletes are.and you kind find that out with some ball and net.so my point is its better than any other physical competition with rules.

Want to know what this article is? The UFC has just made the greatest achievement in MMA history, but Frank hates Dana, so he needs to put a negative spin on anything related to him.

I mean really, the professionalism of boxing? Lol. Boxings corruption and bullshit at every level is what is helping to sink the sport.

The professionalism of the NBA? You know how much shit those athletes get away with? It's smoke and mirrors. I don't want a Bettman or Stern running the UFC. Those guys come off as slimeballs, I'd much rather have Dana who tells it like it is.

And finally, I could care less whether a porn star sells her shit in the crowd. When I went to the UFC in Toronto I liked seeing the skimpy girls selling the products etc. I liked it had a adult feeling to the event. I don't want mascots jumping around, kids playing in the octogoan during breaks, constant contests and stuff on the screen to keep the interest of those in attendance so all the ADD kids don't wander off. This sport caters to 18-35 yr old men and I like it that way. WWE Can have the 13 yr olds, and the other sports can have the kids.
