Ortiz vs. Lil Nog added to UFC 140
BY JOE FERRARO
sportsnet.ca

A source has informed me that verbal agreements are in place for former UFC light-heavyweight champion Tito (The Huntington Beach Bad Boy) Ortiz and Antonio Rogerio (Minotouro Nogueira to square off on Dec. 10 at UFC 140 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

Ortiz and Nogueira were originally matched up for UFC Fight Night 24, which took place on March 26, but Ortiz was forced to withdraw from the bout after sustaining a serious cut during training. Lil Nog was then matched up against Phil Davis, a bout he ended up losing via unanimous judges decision, which was his second loss in a row after he fell short against Ryan (Darth) Bader at UFC 119.

"The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" is also looking to return to the winners' circle, as he's 1-1 in his last two bouts, having recording a thrilling first-round submission victory over Bader at UFC 132, but subsequently losing in the second round vs. Rashad Evans at UFC 133, a bout he accepted on just three weeks' notice.

This bout will not be the main event for UFC 140, and apparently neither will Rogerio's twin brother's either. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira's next fight, a rematch vs Frank Mir, is being rumoured as the co-main event of the evening.

Here's look at the card for UFC 140 thus far:

Heavyweight bout: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs Frank Mir

Light-heavyweight Bout: Tito Ortiz vs Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

Welterweight bout: Rory MacDonald vs Brian Ebersole

Welterweight bout: Rich Attonito vs. Claude Patrick

Lightweight bout: Dennis Hallman vs. John Makdessi

Lightweight bout: John Cholish vs. Mitch Clarke

Any rumors as to the main event? Anyone think it could be the LHW strap if the winner comes out of 135 ok? Phone Post

Jesus Fucking Christ, how about giving Nog a striker for a change? A fight with Gustaffson could be a Fight of the Night Candidate, or even fight of the Year.

This is like the 4th Wrestler in a row he's going to fight. If Ortiz does what Davis did, it's going to be another snoozer.

Ortiz is about 1/20th the wrestler Davis is. I really don't see him able to use the same gameplan Davis did. Plus Davis vs Nog was more than half standing and even then it was boring.

Btw the Ufc has lined up Nog with 4 strikers. Cane, Forrest, Franklin and Vera. It's not their fault he's pulled out of 2 of those contests and Franklin and Forrest pulled out of the other two.

True forgot about the replacements : /

there's no way. That's less than 2 months after the fight. I'd almost guarantee that Nog vs Mir 2 will main event. Let's not forget they need to make a main event for Ufc 139 as well.

With how stacked 136,137 and 141 look I'm pretty sure 139 and 140 will be mediocre cards.

Less than 2 months span from 135-140? Holy moly.
