vandelay - Doesn't fighting amateur boxing when I know I shouldn't be aloud make me a coward too there bud??? Hence the whole basis of this thread. <img src="/images/phone/droid.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>
Once you go pro in a combative sport, You can not enter any sort of amateur combative sports as a fighter. <img src="/images/phone/droid.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>

Does that count from grappling to striking as well? If you fight as a boxer, you can't enter amateur wrestling tournaments any more?
I'm not 100% on the Pro boxing to amateur wrestling, It depends on the officials running everything, I personally don't see a issue with a transition from Pro boxing to Wrestling.

But in the case of MMA, Boxing and similar other sports, One can not fight as a pro boxer then later fight as a amateur MMA fighter, Vise versa as well, One may try, And may even get away with it, But if you continue, you will be caught, And the consequences could be a huge fine, And the indefinite suspension of your fighters licensing, If you hurt a amateur badly you may even look at jail time.

This was told to me by a CSAC, Because I wanted to enter a Toughman boxing tournament, I was denied participation because I was a Pro fighter in MMA. Phone Post

That may be the case in Cali, but it's not the same everywhere.

My gym (in Canad) has had guys with pro mma experience fight in amateur boxing matches. The governing body only had an issue because they fought as novices, and they wanted them to be open class.

Lil' Nog boxed for Brazil at the Pan Am games in '07

Where I'm from they told us we'd lose our amateur boxing status if we competed in amateur mma. Not sure why Phone Post

New School - If you are in the US, I am pretty sure you cannot compete under USA boxing sanctioning as an amateur if you have competed as a professional in any combat sport.

This used to be true, and it was a shitty rule...which is why they recently changed it. Pro MMA fighters can now fight amateur boxing.
