....Time. I was going to say "Top Five Greatest American No-Gi Grapplers of All Time", but then I ran out of room in the title.

Anyway, I did a pretty sweet blog about it. Maybe you guys can give me some insight and comment about your own picks, if they're different from mine:

I definitely agree with Lister on top.

I think some people focusing only on "full rules" no-gi grappling (heelhooks and knee reaping allowed) tournaments might put David Avellan ahead of or tied with Lovato. They each have a bronze in ADCC, but Avellan has also beat Lovato at ADCC (albeit an injured Lovato).

Baret Yoshida should be considered. The native Hawaiian has competed in more ADCC's than anyone in the world (beat Renzo's record this year)

In no order: David Terrell, Dean Lister, Robert Drysdale, David Avellan, and the fifth man is arguable. Phone Post

I would surely consider Drysdale, but do you count him for this?

Drysdale was born in America, his father is American, he grew up in America before moving to Brasil, is an American citizen, and first learned BJJ in America so I'd consider him as American as anyone Phone Post

Drysdale is very accomplished, with the coveted ADCC absolute championship and a bronze medal to boot. Any other no-gi accomplishments of note?

Just asking for other credentials. For example, Kerr won the absolute AND his weight category (twice), along with winning a superfight. He is FAR more qualified than Drysdale based on those statistics.

Well you can add Kerr to YOUR list. His winning the absolute twice sounds reasonable to me. There are two or three other Americans I'd put ahead of Drysdale but it's all just speculation Phone Post
