Str4nger D4nger - Went back to the Asylum and killed the Stray Demon. Had to fight him for like 10 straight minutes but I fuckin did it. Used all the souls it gave me to buy the crest from the smith.

So I went to use the crest on the big door in the forest, hoping for some sweet loot. Not loot, but a sorcerer and a ghost that fuck my life up. 20k souls for a new interesting way to die.

That door leads you not only to the forest covenant if you wish to join but also to the grave of Artorias where you fight the Great Gray Wolf Sif. But the bigger thing is that once you open that door you have access to the best legitimate soul farming area in the game.

You can literally get 7000 souls, sometimes more in a minute. What you do is run through the forest like a mad man, pissing off all the phantoms who try to kill you. Once they are giving chase, run back to the door you opened except sit on the bottom corner of the stairs near the cliff. There should be the ledge where you walk in above you. The enemies will follow and try to jump on top of you only to fall off the cliff. Easy, easy souls.

Here's a vid, get as many of them to chase you as they can and they'll just fall off like retards. Sometimes they land on the ledge and you have to kick them over, no biggie. Even if you die it's easy to recover your souls in this area. Happy Farming!

P.S. - I'm a massive Dark Soul's nerd. If you guys need any help with anything just ask, I've watched tons of streams and have logged mad hours already.

Here's another tip. Lighting weapons own virtually all enemies. Very, very, very few enemies have any kind of lighting resistance. A super powerful lighting weapon you can get early is in Sen's Fortress. At the bottom of an elevator you take there is a treasure chest which is actually a "mimic". If you try to open it, it will kill you with it's surprise attack. Hit the chest to wake him up and then beat his bitch ass. Your reward is a lighting spear that rips Sen's fortress enemies, amongst many others a new ass without having high stat requirements.

Of course you can always upgrade a weapon you fancy to lighting instead of the spear, but spears are great for new players getting the hang of the game since you can attack while you are still holding your shield up. I'm a big fan of putting lighting onto my katanas, particularly the Iaito.

Final tip for now, if you are looking to add some magic to your repritoire but don't want to invest a lot of points in Faith or Intelligence then go the way of the Pyromancer. If you didn't start with this class you can find a friendly Pyro in the Depths, trapped in one of those big pots. Kick the pot to get him out and he'll return to Firelink Shrine and give you a Pyro catalyst.

The beauty of Pyro magic is fire does great damage to 2/3, maybe more, of the enemies in the game and the strength of pyro magic relies on upgrading your catalyst, not intelligence. That means you don't have to waste soul levels building intelligence, rather you can farm souls like in the vid I showed you and have your Pyro homeboy upgrade your catalyst for souls. No titantie of any sort, just souls.

This is great for melee characters who want some magic. Only downside to Pyro is that the uses are much more limited, as is the range and like I mentioned before more enemies are resistant to fire than magic, divine/occult or lighting. But for not having to waste levels on stats, it's a good way to give you more options.

If you a are big melee fighter having the spell Iron Flesh will be a boon. You move hella slow but with strong armor and this spell, even the hardiest boss hits can seem laughable. They definitely made melee a much stronger option in Dark Souls. It was okay in Demon's Souls but if you wanted to embarrass every boss in the game then magic was the way to go, wicked overpowered.

Oh that's definitely what's about to go down. Thanks, I was running out of ideas just to kill the ghosts. They're fairly fast and I can't lock onto them.

You got any advice for what distance to engage the Hydra? Can't seem to find a spot to avoid it biting at me or shooting me dead. Phone Post

Str4nger,

Don't bother with the Ghosts in New Londo until MUCH later. There are some good items there but the boss you eventually fight is meant to be fought way later in the game. For now leave those cheap fucks alone, when you come back later with some transient curse items (let's you hit ghosts) you'll push their shit in.

As for the Hydra you have to get close. If you stay far way he'll just keep blasting you. Lure the golems into the line of fire, as the hydra will kill them too but make sure to either hide behind something when he shoots water, like a rock, trees don't work, so you stay safe.

Once you run up on him he's pretty easy. He'll lunge at you with one of his heads which will be pretty easy to see coming. Get out of the way, hit him a few times and repeat. Once you've cut off all the heads he'll die. He only gives you a stupid ring but at least you won't have to worry about that asshole anymore.

If you are having trouble dodging his bite keep in mind he tends to throw his head in the same place. Find a spot where you can maneuver easy and it shouldn't be so bad. Ranged battle versus the Hydra is very hard, since his water is so powerful.

Oh my bad, the ghosts you were referring to where the forest phantoms. Yeah, lead those pesky fuckers off the ledge and that will make short work of them, just like the video.

Oldboy, I accidentally killed Laurentius, as I used my sword to free him and he went aggro on me. Is there another way to get pyromancy?

Also, is it worth it to get the medallion to enter Sen's Fortress to level up, before facing enemies like the big rat and the vomiting dragon?

Also the vomiting dragon, should you take off your good armor and equip some crappy armor, so the good stuff isn't accidentally melted away?

Are you guys getting anything for killing bosses?

I killed the asylum boss and the taurus guy on the bridge. Haven't got anything yet. Just wondering, because in demon souls I got their souls. All I've got is stones for upgrading weapons from black knights.

I'm still trying to finish off that big knight with the curved club. Drake Sword and I'm still fighting him for literally ten minutes and he's barely halfway dead. I've knocked him down once.

Nothing like fighting for ten intense minutes just to get smashed with one swing of a club for mistiming a dodge. Argh! There must be an easier way....

I would guess he's talking about the guy at the bottom of the Taurus demon tower because he's been doing the same to me. Phone Post

Ok where do I go after ringing the bell in the church? Help people

Ps that guy with the big club is easy. Draw him to the entrance of the tower because he has problems fitting through the door. Stand in the entrance wait for him to swing then back up and use either magic or arrows. Phone Post

Not every boss in this game gives souls. For instance the Taurus and Capra demons that you first face as bosses become normal enemies later in the game. They give you souls and can drop their weapons but no unique souls from these guys.

Yes, after you ring the first bell your mission is to go to Blight Town via the sewers/depths. After you kill the spider witch Quelaag, there is a hidden door that leads to the Chaos Covenant. When you find the door there will be one of those egg men there and he'll ask you some questions. Make sure not to kill him and say yes to his first question. After that he will let you pass and talk to the Chaos Covenant leader but by no means are you forced to join. Talk to egg man to purchase pyro spells and I am pretty sure he sells you a catalyst as well as upgrades them.

Are you talking about the gaping dragon? The one with the massive toothy maw all too similar to Julia Roberts? Hi-yoooooooooo! Sorry I'm a few beers deep. Anyway there are a couple dragons that barf on you, so let me know which one and I can help you out.

With the gaping dragon you just have to stay to the right, his left and watch out for his foot stomp. When he slams his teeth into the floor he often runs off in some direction and then pauses for a while. Be sure to stay out of his path, then run him down and hit his tail. Repeat until his tail comes off, snag your Dragon Axe and repeat until that bastard is done.

After the first bell you need to go to the Depths, from there the sewers and then into Blight Town. BT can be a nightmare, be sure to stock up on plenty of both regular and blooming purple moss since so many enemies use poison and you are forced to run through poison water many times.

Once you are at the bottom of blight town where the poison water starts, hug the wall and go to the right until you find a bonfire. From there you want to make your way to the weird white "mountain" structure with the roots growing out of it. In there is a cave which leads to Quelaag the Spider witch. Kill her and then you can ring the second bell, which opens the path to Sen's Fortress.

The real Dark Souls starts there, mwa hahahahahahaha!

Finally the fellow with the club is Havel the Rock. He's a bad motherfucker and you can get his gear later in the game which while heavy is some of the best armor hands down. His shield takes 50 strength to wield but that thing can stop magic/fire/lighting or anything else thrown at it.

The key to beating Havel is getting behind him. His swings are very large and telegraphed so roll right as his hammer is coming down. If you roll too early he'll redirect it into your face and more than likely one shot kill you.

Make him miss and you can get an easy backstab. Rinse, repeat. Also as someone mentioned, Havel doesn't like to leave his tower. Draw him up to the entrance and he'll turn around. Get some free shots or kick him off the ledge to get some damage in. It takes longer this way but is much safer. Your reward is Havel's Ring, which boosts your equip burden a whopping 50% and along with the Wolf Ring is a must have for those wishing to be a tank.
