Since it was shown live, and it will take months before the DVD is out:

Tsukamoto took his second world tournament title. Last time was 1996 (he has reached 7th place twice during the 3 WT in between). Now he apparently have announced he will retire.
What a way to go!

Plenty of KO´s & knockdowns in the finals. Not to mention a few upsets as both Imbras and Dimitrov failed to reach final 8. Imbras got eliminated in his second fight. Previous WT champion, Tsukagoshi, lost on weight vs Jakobsen.

The final was all-japanese. The best two non-japanese both got KOd in the semi´s (Kubilius by lowkicks from Muruyama, and Nesterenko by Domawashi Kaiten geri from Tsukamoto. Then Kubilius got lowkick KO´s again in the fight for 3rd place).

The final fight between Tsukamoto and Muruyama was a bit boring as Tsukamoto stayed at a distance, and Muruyama couldn't get going against Tsukamoto´s unconventional (read: weird) fighting style. Most of the fight was Muruyama walking forward unable to hit or get into his range, and Tsukamoto staying outside and hitting with whatever he liked (a lot of rarely seen techniques like sidekicks and spinning back kicks). When Tsukamoto finally started advancing, Muruyama was to tired to reply in kind.
An earned but far from exciting dec victory to Tsukamoto.

Men´s tournament (top 8):
1. Norichika Tsukamoto -JAPAN
2. Tsutomo Muruyama -JAPAN
3. Roman Nesterenko -RUSSIA
4. Lukas Kubilius -LITHUANIA
5. Brian Jakobsen -DENMARK
6. Andrey Materov -RUSSIA
7. Yuji Shimamoto -JAPAN
8. Yevgeniy Andrushko -RUSSIA

Best Technique: Norichika Tsukamoto -JAPAN
Fighting Spirit: Yuki Maeda -JAPAN
Tamashiwari: Brian Jakobsen -DENMARK

Women´s tournament (top 4):
1. Emi Shoguchi -Japan
2. Margarita Ciuplyte -Lithuania
3. Carolien Brix -Greece
4. Inga Mikstaite -Lithuania

Best technique: Maria Gridneva -Kazakhstan
Fighting spirit: Sayaka Kato -Japan

Unfortunately, Mikstaite advanced injured to the semi´s after her opponent was disqualified for violating the rules, and left walk-over both in the Semi (vs Shoguchi) and in the fight for 3rd place.
Not the best end to the ladies tournament.
