lol @ Chael being a "failed LHW" who "quickly became a top contender" after dropping down to 185.

How many career fights did Chael lose at 205? Which 205ers did he lose to?

How many years has Chael been fighting at 185?

What was Paulo Filho's ranking when Chael beat him?

.... hey -- anyone remember when a "failed" MW moved up to heavyweight and KTFO of Fedor inside the first round? After, of course, "quickly becoming a top contender" -- in fact immediately fighting for the title -- at 205 after "failing" at 185.

lol @ Anderson needing to beat 4 top guys at 205 to "get to Fedor's level", when Fedor has only beaten four LEGITIMATE -- as in guys who earned that position through consistently proving themselves among the best, not by getting one fluke win --  top 10 fighters in his entire career (Nog, Crocop, Sylvia, Arlovski). Anderson beat #1 Sakurai, #1 Franklin, #2 Henderson (in Narly's "top 10 all time"), #2 Sonnen, top 5 Maia, top 5 Marquardt, top 10 Belfort (in Narly's "one of the all time best fighters in MMA" list), top 5 Okami, top 5 Forrest (next weightclass up). He has more top 10 wins than ANYONE. But now he needs to move up and beat another four, including the #1...oh, it's because Fedor is "small" even though he OUT FUCKING WEIGHED two of his four big wins, in fact the two guys who were BY FAR his biggest career wins -- and even then he could finish neither of them. And outside those four big wins, who were Fedor's other biggest wins? Arona -- a lightheavyweight. Babalu -- a lightheavyweight. Lindland -- a middleweight. Hunt -- a guy who was beaten quicker and easier by middleweight Mousasi than Fedor did.

Narly the idiot strikes again.

Astronaut - "The UFC has the best of the best with very few exceptions"

HW is one of the exceptions
By what....2 fighters? <img src="/images/phone/apple.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>

By knowing the entire history of the division

 Nice.

Astronaut makes an interesting counter point.

UFC has had 5 middleweight Champions. Although Pride only had 2(HW), the first(Nogueira) solidified his status as a legit champion by defending his belt multiple times where as the middleweight division didn't get it's first successful title defense until Rich Franklin defended it 2 times before losing to Anderson who has held the belt since.

I understand that Fedor fought fights not defending the belt, but in my opinion:

Fedor beating-Gary Goodridge, Naoya Ogawa, TK, Zulu, Mark Hunt, Matt Lindland

is Greater than

Anderson beating-
-Travis Lutter(2-2 UFC record before getting title shot-has been RELEASED from UFC a long time ago)
-Nate Marquardt(was one fight away from another title shot, lost, then was RELEASED from the organization 1 fight later),
-James Irvin(gets to fight the champion, then 2 fights later isn't good enough to be in the organization-RELEASED)
-Patrick Cote(gets to fight the champion, then 2 fights later isn't good enough to be in the organization-RELEASED)
-Thales Leites(gets to fight the champion, then 1 fight later isn't good enough to be in the organization-RELEASED)

NarlyPersianDude - Fedor is the better legend as it stands. He has the better list of big wins, he has the longer undefeated streak, both Anderson and Fedor have lost, Anderson has lost to a level of fighter far inferior to him, while Fedor has lost to Werdum, one of the 10 best heavies of alltime, BigFoot, a top 10 heavy when Fedor fought him, who is like 4 weightclasses bigger than Fedor, and Dan Henderson, who right now, is one of the 10 best fighters ever.

Anderson fights in by far, the weakest division in mma, mw, you know the division where two failed lhw's, Sonnen and Stann where not even in the top 40 in the world, drop down to mw, and both quickly become top contenders. Fedor fights at heavy, perhaps not always the best division, but considering the size of the guys it is the most unpredicatable and finish heavy division in all of mma. The percentage of fights that are finished at heavy, are emphatically higher than fights that are finished at other weightclasses, Fedor is not even avg size of a top ufc lhw. The average, forget about large, the average ufc lhw is a little bigger than Fedor. Yet, Fedor goes and competes at heavy, the most topsy turvy division and in many fights against massive guys, he not only won, but almost always got a crazy finish. Also, Fedor has been in awful situations a lot of times, and won almost minutes later many times. The intangibles just keep going on with him. Anderson would not to fight and beat Rampage Shogun Jones Rashad, to get to Fedor's level. NoDoubt
Absolutely pathetic post.(OH THE IRONING) Anderson has fought in the UFC all these years, dominating and making it look easy.(SEE CHAEL SONNEN FIGHT) Fedor has been everywhere else because he is too pussy and would get his ass kicked by the lower level guys(FAIL-USING WOULD AND IF WORDS DO NOT WIN DEBATES). Fedor is in the weakest weight division by far and he is around the same weight a lot of successful hws are.(USE STATS OR EXAMPLES TO MAKE THIS STATEMENT HAVE ANY CLOUT)If they fought at Hw Silva would win.(IF ANDERSON WAS CHINESE HE WOULDN'T BE BRAZILIAN)That's how big of a difference there is. Silva is by far the mma goat, while Fedor would get his ass kicked by any top ten Hw despite being younger than Silva.(WOULD HUH) Calling Henderson one of the top ten mixed martial artists of all time just shows that you know nothing(WOW, THIS CLARIFIES YOUR KNOWLEDGE. IF ANYTHING, PLEEEEAAASE GIVE ME YOUR TOP TEN ALL TIME) and that a MW who got his ass kicked by Silva beat Fedor, a Hw, which supports the fact that Silva would kick his ass, despite being a MW.(BECAUSE CHONAN BEAT ANDERSON, CHONAN WOULD BEAT FEDOR TOO, ISN'T THAT HOW MMA MATH WORKS?) For Fedor to be anywhere near Silva's level he would have to quit being a pussy and go to the UFC, win the belt, defend the belt 10 times with ease and then he might be close. Until then he's just a failure who got cut from strikeforce(DREW BREES IS A FREE AGENT NEXT YEAR-WOULD YOU CONSIDER HIM CUT IF N.O DOESN'T RESIGN HIM???) for sucking and won in Pride which has been known to fix fights. Try watching a mma event instead of reading about them.(LEARN YOUR HISTORY BRO, TAKE YOUR OWN ADVICE, I CAN TELL YOU NEED IT) Phone Post

Both Fedor and Anderson are incredible and BOTH are in every conversation of best ever (to this point) of any knowledgable MMA fan.

All the tossers bitching about Fedor are either short on memory or recent fans.

D241 -   Both have solidified themselves as legends.
Currently, BOTH have a record of 31-4.

Out of the 31 wins, BOTH have exactly 24 finishes.
Anderson has 18(T)ko's and 6 submissions
Fedor has 18 submissions and 6 (t)ko's

My Mind = bottled

I don't think I needed to include it to show the difference, but just to emphasize, Anderson Silva lost 4 times before becoming Champion.

My list, if anything, would make Anderson's record look better as it is only the wins as champion. Despite that, Fedor's looks more impressive imo.

No counter argument at all, just your little inputs that all tell me to provide facts when you provide none. Your almost as pathetic as Fedor. Phone Post
Ok, I'll bite.

do you realize I created this poll?

do you know that I have stated multiple facts, and pointed out how your argument(s) were based on multiple "would and if" statements?

do you know that I am seriously questioning if you are a brilliant troll, or incredibly ignorant new fan?

I'll wait and see if you list your all time top 10 to clarify that last one.

The poll I created had multiple facts in it, but that doesn't matter at this point.

You've outted yourself as a troll, damn it.

You could've at least tried harder and made a more realistic top 10.

Astronaut - Voted for Anderson, would like to see him have more Super fights. Who cares about Chael on a 1 fight winning streak or Munoz or Bisping/Mayhem.

I want to see him against the likes of GSP, Hendo/Shogun, Rampage etc..

Considering Fedor didn't even clean out the Pride HW division, I think this statement is telling.

FadeToBlack - Anderson has performed in a much more boiler room environment than Fedor (no ducking opponents, no extended breaks, no cream-puff fights, etc.). That's why history will remember him better. Phone Post

Agree. Too many Mark Hunt, Coleman rematches, Choi, Zulu matches as opposed to running the gauntlet every fight.

Pride was amazing, but it protected both Fedor and Silva big time.

I voted Fedor - I feel Pride's HW division during his streak was stronger than the UFC's MW division is now. It's very close though, and if Anderson wins a few more fights he may surpass Fedor.

"Although Pride only had 2(HW), the first(Nogueira) solidified his status as a legit champion by defending his belt multiple times where as the middleweight division didn't get it's first successful title defense until Rich Franklin defended it 2 times before losing to Anderson who has held the belt since."

Not real sure what point you're making as far as title defenses go, but Nogueira had ZERO title defenses.

"
do you know that I have stated multiple facts"

Facts like how Nog "defended his belt multiple times" and Fedor had six title defenses and was at a "considerable weight disadvantage" for "most" of his career?

If you say so. Why do you cite organizational political releases as though they are indicative of anything? Are you aware that Marquardt was cut for drug testing and not for his performance in the cage? Are you aware that Irvin wasn't fighting "the champion", because Anderson was not champion of 205 where they fought? How many fights did Ogawa win in Pride, before OR after fighting Fedor? Or TK? Or Zulu? How was Lindland doing going into the Fedor fight and how has he done since then? How has Hunt's career done since fighting Fedor? How about Goodridge?

Are these more of your "facts"?

Bite_Sized_Brawler - Creating a poll doesn't make you smart, you are very stupid. You want an all time p4p top ten? I'll throw one together right now. Here:

1. Anderson Silva
2. George St. Pierre
3. Jose Aldo
4. Matt Hughes
5. Chuck Liddell
6. Jon Jones
7. B.J. Penn
8. Rashad Evans
9. Maricio Rua
10. Randy Couture

What's yours big talker? Phone Post
I wish I had two extra arms so I could give that "all time top 10" FOUR thumbs down.

LMFAO that is terrible hahahahaha

I like that you didn't address any of points he made Phone Post

Perhaps you don't know about Orcus. The longer you are here, you will find out. Orcus is very pro UFC, and even moreso Anti Fedor.

These two guys are fucking LEGENDS. There is no wrong vote. I really hope that nobody tries to discredit either one, instead, just use your opinion about the accomplishments of either one and why you think that is better. It's not like there's a short list of accomplishments to choose from from either fighter.
I do know this but there is no denying he brought up very valid points in what he had posted Phone Post

heroder - its 2011 and the MW division is weaker then the HW division of 2005

What difference does it make how deep the 2005 HW division was when Fedor only fought two of the guys that made it "deep"?

Meanwhile, Anderson has beaten ALL the top middleweights.

What do you mean "a killer"? A guy with lots of standing KOs? Vitor has had many. A guy on a good streak? Rich Franklin was on a years' long streak and had only one loss in his career (at heavyweight). A highly ranked guy? Franklin was #1, Henderson was #2.

Let me ask you this, who has Fedor ever beaten that is as "complete" as Dan Henderson, i.e., dangerous standing, will not quit, great chin, has the wrestling to dictate where the fight goes, is not sub-clueless? Or Rich Franklin, with stopping power standing and on the ground, good submissions, good takedown defense? Or Vitor Belfort, with incredible speed and KO power, never been KO'd, very good wrestling, and blackbelt jiujitsu?

Fedor is the absolute greatest of all time, but if we're talking about the greatest by weight class, neither Fedor or Anderson can stand up to what GSP has done.
