How do you know who the GOAT really is until everyone fights in the SAME ORGANIZATION during or close to their primes????

Well he pretty much did fight every HW from the UFC and Pride from his prime era,not sure who else from his era he did not fight.Randy maybe?

lol

How about....

Randy Couture 2006-2008, Josh Barnett 2006-2010, Gabriel Gonzaga 2007-2008, Frank Mir 2008-2010, JDS 2009-2010, Brock Lesnar 2009, Cain Velasquez 2010, Shane Carwin 2010, Alistair Overeem 2010

Im not saying that he should have fought all of them, but not even ONE of them? And he's supposed to be the HW GOAT?

Jesus........

Only two of the above were top HW's during Fedor's prime. And if it was not for a failed drugs test he would of foght one of them.

he fought in the weakest heavyweight division ever

You can say the same about the MW's.Infact i would aside from the hype that surrounds the number 1 contenders in MW division it has been pretty weak, but it does seem to be getting a little stronger recently.

Anyway why the fuck do i get the feeling that when someone has an opinion on this forum you get the same two people attack that opinion with utter bollocks.I don't post on here very often, but it's really noticeable and does also start to grate.

And the other would've happened if Zuffa didn't use a legal team to stop it. Phone Post

nobones - The fights against cans like nagata, ogawa, zuluzinho and goodridge or the rematch against coleman tarnish Fedor's dominant period. Nagata and Ogawa were basically just pro wrestlers at the time it would have been like Anderson beating Kurt Angle today or Couture beating James Toney. Yes Angle and Toney had legit combat sports background, Nagata had a legit amateur wrestling history and Ogawa was a Judo Olympic Gold medalist. But both were far from their primes and relative novices in MMA being asked to fight the best fighter on the planet at the time. Jokes for fights used it to extend a win streak and reduce chances of losing. Takes away from the luster of Fedor's accomplishments. <img src="/images/phone/droid.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>

You are a bit misguided here. Fedor fought Ogawa in the 3rd round of a 16 man single elimination tourney. Holding that against Fedor is very foolish. Even now, at the best the UFC HW Division has ever been, a 16 man HW tourney would include a good number of guys who are novices, past their prime, or journeymen.

Add another pro fighter stating Fedor is the best

http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/mma.cfm?go=forum.posts&thread=1069558

TIMHAGUE - Fedor is the best. Anyone who says otherwise is in denial.

Fedor is the best MMA fighter in the history of the sport. All the bashing is done by CRE and his army of trolls.

"You would think as a fighter he would want to cement his legacy"

his legacy has already been cemented a long time ago

TIMHAGUE - Exactly. ^^^

Fedor's run is far more impressive.

He reigned in a division where virtually anyone, can knock anyone else out in one punch. Just look at the UFC's revolving door at the top for first hand evidence of this.

To go on at HW for so long is unheard of. Cain, the man many on this forum thought would be untouchable got bingo'd in his first title defense.

Why is this even a debate. Further evidence most people are stupid.

Tim is entitled to his opinion. I think Anderson is the greatest ever. Will anyone change my mind about that? No. Will I change anyone's mind about Fedor? No. I really don't care too much for all the bullshit GOAT discussion threads, but I'll say this: we have had the opportunity to witness the two greatest fighters ever. As an MMA fan, what more could you ask for? Be glad we all had the privilege to see these two men compete. Phone Post

Fedor's opponents win % 67.4
Anderson's opponents win % 68.2

Pretty crazy how identical both fighters career's have been
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Both undefeated in the top organizations when champs
Both have one BS loss
Both with similar finishing rates Fedor @76% Silva @78%
Fedor with 23 1st round finishes / Silva with 17 1st round finishes
Anderson on a 15 fight win streak in UFC / Fedor with a 14 fight win streak in Pride FC
Fedor's longest streak @ 27 wins for 8 years 7 months / Anderson's currents streak @ 15 wins for 6 years 3 months
Opponents Anderson and Fedor lost to win % Andy - 62.2 / Fedor - 71.3
Average fights per year Andy @2.7 for 13 years (not including '98 & '99) / Fedor @3.2 for 12 years
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm curious as to how many Sambo matches Fedor had throughout the years as well as any extra fights Andy had.

Anyone have anymore?

TTT to the GOATS!!!

*been gone for a while, glad to be back and saddend that the trolls are still in effect.

Doctor mma -  It isnt cheapshotting to point out facts. It never will be. If we are to really compare them, I really think the points I made out matter a lot. Quality over quantity always, there are arond 4-5 win streaks longer than Fedor's so it really doesnt mean much in comparison of GOAT, but the opposition in quality really does.

How many top-10 opponents Fedor won during his Pride run and how many has Anderson? And Anderson didnt go to other orgs meantime to beat lower caliber fighters like Fedor did in between his run.

No cheapshotting at all, just pointing out the obvious.
Nice avatar. Lol @ no cheapshots

Stop getting so butthurt, its a comparision thread, I'm comparing.

Auzzie - stop relying so much on NUMBERS.

This isn't a 150+ year old sport like baseball

This is a NINETEEN YEAR OLD COMBAT SPORT, ya fucking dummy

Using QUALITATIVE ANALYSIS, not QUANTITATIVE analysis
Ummmm it's a fighter comparison Auzzie. And I'm listing the accomplishments they've had during their storied careers.

You two really have issue. For real. Phone Post

Auzzie - then use qualitative fighter comparisons

numbers dont hold much true significance in such a young combat sport
How many times are you going to repeat yourself? Seriously, you must suffer from OCD or something.

And Auzzie, please don't make me link the time i broke you down and you admitted Fedor is the GOAT HW. Remember that? You do because the last time I linked it your response was what? I tricked you into saying that. Lol!! Only to have you turn into a ball of frustration the next day claiming we can't choose a goat in this sport because it's too young. You weren't even aware that the MW division was so fresh but your quick to claim goats in other weight classes.

What's your next argument after we shut you down? I can't wait. First its a young sport, then it's the wwe term 2nd gen wrestler (most contradictory argument I've ever read on this forum). Can't wait to see what your short sighted mind comes up with next. I mean, you seriously claimed Rampage wasn't a wrestler and that Arona had no wrestling. I guarantee you've never even watched what Arona did at ADCC.

Another thing I've noticed from Auzzie. When he's all riled up he starts saying "ya fuckin dummy" and "mma brotha". Watch, its halarious... Lol! Phone Post

I'm pretty sure Auzzie is a junkie. He's happy as can be, but slowly starts to unravel and spaz out into anger coupled with ma brothers. He then takes a 10 hour break, does crack and comes back to the dead thread chipper as hell. He's forgotten everything that's been posted and starts all over again. By the end of his day he's twitching and spazzing again. Phone Post

It's fun. Honestly, I've stated this in previous threads. One thing I have in common with DFW is we love fucking with the trolls. I think it's pretty funny trolling back also, in different, subtle ways. Phone Post

ill repeat myself whenever it's necessary, ma brotha

you are sensationalizing fedor's record with numbers and titles and shit

it's all about who you beat and what styles and skills you beat in a 19 year old combat sport

don't try to change the subject, ma brotha

cause I know da truth hurts
I'm presenting accomplishments and facts. Call it what you want, I call it comparing the sports 2 GOATs in a compare the 2 GOATs thread.

I know these numbers don't bode well for your arguments, so I understand why you get all butt hurt and offended, but let's face it. THESE THINGS HAPPENNED and there's no erasing the history and achievements of these two incredible fighters. No matter how hard you try.

I've asked this once before an you always dodge it. Do you seriously think this campaign of negativity toward fedor is really going to change the minds of the journalists and fighters who were there to watch it go down? Do you really believe that 10 years from now people won't be talking about the sports bests and people won't bring Fedor up?

You're wasting casts amount of time and energy here. You're not a bad poster when you're not discrediting and deminishing Fedor's accomplishments. Phone Post
