TMZ  reported that yesterday Alistair Overeem sued his former management team for an uspecified amount. Overeem, who fights Brock Lesnar next month at UFC 141, alleges Golden Glory misled him to sign a bad contract – he ceded 35 percent of his pre-tax earnings for management in the deal – and owes him more than $151,000 in back pay. He is also asking for a court order to break the contract.

NowKnock Out Investments (KOI) and Golden Glory fire back, in a statement released by their attorneys:

"This lawsuit is a preemptive action on the part of Mr. Overeem and his counsel in response to KOI's recent notification to Mr. Overeem of numerous violations by him of his management agreement with KOI, including but not limited to his failure to pay commissions for past fights and endorsement deals secured by KOI and Golden Glory.

"KOI and Golden Glory are respected organizations committed to securing the best fight deals and training for their team of fighters. Mr. Overeem's continued suggestions to the contrary are scurrilous and will be vigorously defended in the proper forum.

"Alistair Overeem is a striker – he wants to throw the first punch. But this misguided decision to file a lawsuit as a preemptive strike leaves Mr. Overeem vulnerable in ways our clients wished to avoid."

Overeem doesnt want to pay a percentage of his future UFC purses to GG and it's easier now that the money goes directly to him... he just wants a legal out as well.

I wonder if how this is shaped by what Bas Rutten said about the structure of the way GG works.

http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/news/343675/Bas-Rutten-speculates-on-Zuffa-vs-Golden-Glory-situatuion/

Whether this has anything to do with Alistair asking back for money the GG team took for his trainers or he feeling they took more than they deserved.

Maybe the contract is set up in such a way as to he being legally obliged to pay a % of any fight pursue regardless of GG being involved in his training or not.

Lets wait and see

why has no one ever asked Heath Herring what he thought of the contract he had with Golden Glory.

find out that answer and you will know much more.
