ProteinPower - Awesome! No love for JDS tho?

He won the belt *this* month so he's obviously not nominated and trust me has is NOWHERE NEAR as popula/known as A. Silva. Anderson is the biggest MMA star in Brazil by far. Belfort is a very distant second and all the other guys are just catching up.

This does really go to show how marketable Silva really is and always has been and how (language barrier or not) the UFC/Zuffa really dropped the ball on this guy for years. Always promoting him as the "silent foreign assassin" and saying nothing more than "he's the p4p best fighter in the world" ad nauseum instead of shedding light on his charismatic, colorful personality.

He's funny as hell and flamboyant even with subtitles but they always promoted him as a Brazilian ninja or some shit.

Wondering why you think this? Everything I've read and heard is thy Vitor is by far the biggest mma star in Brazil, especially after being on reality tv and licking feet.

Not being a dick, I'm not from Brazil and i would be interested in why Anderson is more popular than Vitor. After their fight is when Andy became popular was the impression I got. Phone Post

Vitor used to be the golden child in Brazil up until he received Anderson's foot to his face. Deaf wrote that Anderson is Brazil's biggest mma star, he never said Anderson always was. Phone Post

I guess if you're going to dethrone the popularity king, the way Anderson did it ain't a bad way to go. Phone Post

Vitor *WAS* the most famous MMA fighter (almost completely due to his sex symbol wife's fame and being on that reality show with her) until Silva front kicked him in the face. Silva went from being a complete nobody in what was considered a fringe sport to a superstar overnight after the KO. The Belfort-Silva card was the first MMA event to receive mainstream attention in Brazil and I believe it was televised everywhere. Silva was signed to Ronaldo's marketing firm 9ine around the same time and they marketed the fuck out of him in the aftermath to the point that he's basically a household name in Brazil (Burger King ads, Ford ads, Budweiser ads, promoting shit with Beiber on TV, starring in music videos, GQ Sportsman of the year etc.).

Belfort was never this big. He was actually more of a minor celebrity from what I've heard and just happened to be the most famous Vale Tudo (MMA) guy up until February (basically a medium fish in a microscopic pond). Silva is bigger in Brazil than Lesnar is in America and it all happened this year.

Exactly right. Here's a little example of the difference between their popularity right now:

Vitor: 187k twitter followers
Dos Santos: 157k followers
Silva: 913k followers
No mention of Shogun? 238k followers on twitter Phone Post

When he beats Chael again he will become the biggest MMA star ever. It will be his last real challenge at that weight.

Chael's legacy will be his mouth and his association with Anderson.

Anderson's legacy is how great he is.

LMAO chael...a dude who couldn't cut it at LHW will make somebody the biggest MMA star....talk about being delusional.

DOn't get me wrong AS is good but beating chael doesn't mean anything, he needs to fight at 205 against more skillfull opponents
He will be the biggest star by cleaning out an entire division without 1 loss, who cares that it's Chael?

PS: I'm glad u mad.
