He just got fired from his last job. I say they hire a young position coach from a successful program. Someone who can flip the program and the football culture in this state on its head.

Even the best academic programs in the country have football teams for the most part.

I agree, no Miano. He's had his 13 years to do something. He hasn't. Let's make some major moves. Lets go after some marquee coaches. The people of Hawaii have tasted success in 2007 and are willing to pay more to get that back IMHO.

I doubt they would be able to draw a current head coach unless it was from a lower level program. They are not going to get anyone of name to move down from a better job.

Guys like Erickson, Neuhisel, hell even Kevin Gilbride are all viable. What about Oregon's OC? They run a similar offense to ours, I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him.

There's a also a bunch of coaches with Hawaii ties that could apply- Norm Chow, Duane Akina, Cabral...etc.

Oregon's OC is their head coach and he is not coming to Hawaii. I don't like the good old boy list either. They should go after a young position coach from a major progam. Getting a HC or coordinator will be too lofty for them to afford.

A lot of HC got fired recently so there are a lot of assistants or Coordinators looking for jobs. Hopefully, some will apply and bring this program back to glory.

UH probably is not going to be able to afford the Neuheisels, Ericksons, or the Stoops but they can try and lure the OCs or the DCs from those staffs.

Chow may be too old. I think they want to find a younger coach with some fire to establish themselves. Phone Post

 Chow's only 65 (and a fit 65 too), I don't see why UH wouldn't want him.

That's not the point, non of the candidates mentioned here will be "the guy." But any of the mentioned candidates is a guy I'd rather see than Rich Miano as HC (which is what UH will do).

Nah I don't UH is going to make the same mistake twice after losing so much money on ticket sales under McMackin. This is a very important hire for them and I think they will try to get the best guy possible.

There are many powerful peeps that are pushing Miano as HC. The guy is well connected within the UH system.

We don't need a guy in the system we already know the system is broken we need to get rid of majority of the coaching staff they have become complacent and comfortable

In all honesty Miano is a DB coach when was the last time Hawaii had a secondary that was worth talking about

The UH coaching staff doesn't need someone everyone knows and likes they need someone who wins and has the know how and mindset to do it
