Randl and Yoshida do not look like they belong in the same weight class.

The fight between Magomedov and Kawakami is as tuff/brutal fight I have seen. Kawakami just won by ippon. Looked like Harai tsurikomi ashi, awesome techniqaue whatever it was. He wore the Russian down.

I agree with the commentators: Malloy's strategy was a poor decision.

Another question: where's Jae-bum Kim? Are some of the world champions (Riner, Sobirov, Kim) just deciding to take a break? Somebody please enlighten me.

But I'm just wondering why they don't even appear in the brackets at all. It's taken a lot out of this tournament to not see those big names for me.

But yes, I saw Iliadis against Randl; looked effortless against that big, lumbering Slovakian.

Interestingly, the Nishiyama who usually meets Iliadis in the finals of these tournaments was eliminated earlier.

I guess the officials aren't going to reverse that; yuko for the Cuban, Iliadis is out......major upset. First, Zantaraia, now Iliadis. I'm bummed.

Its alright...its an Olympic year so you can expect variations in the results, its a preparatory period.

But in Judo today, anything can happen, nobody is immune.

The Russian @90kg is doing well.

So we got......

Lee (KOR) vs. M. Nishiyama (JAP)

and

Gonzalez (CUB) vs. Voprosov (RUS)

I don't want to make any more predictions.

Guilheiro off to the -81 kg finals, with no Jae-bum Kim standing in his way to a gold medal.

So in the men's divisions, every gold medal has gone to Japan so far. Last weight classes starting in about 8 hours.

Gonzales gripping is typical Cuban, double sleeve and drop seionage throw. Surprized he isn't receiving more shito's. Against Nishiyama(Mashishi) it wasn't as effective and had to change his grips to normal at times. The Cuban looks very strong. Nishiyama didn't follow him and make himself suseptible to the forward throw. Iliadis met his match a gut just as strong as him but I think he will have him figured out by London 2012.
