I suffer from low blood pressure from my paternal line (my one and only sibling has this too). It's never been an issue for me other than me noticing I seem to have a lot more energy when I eat a high salt diet. I recently had my blood pressure taken and it was in the lower end of the normal range and this was after weeks/months of eating shitloads of salt.

I don't mind salty food at all, but I would like some recipes where I can add shitloads of salt to things but not have it taste inedible. My go-to recipe is a bowl of roast chicken, small amounts of basmati rice and loads of Tabasco. The Tabasco kills the taste of the salt (and pretty much everything else) but that is because I am adding 1/4-1/3 of a bottle to it. I would like a change from this or at least some variety.

Anyone have any suggestions?

use bouillon cubes or stocks when you cook vegetables, soups, brown rice, quinoa, etc. those have a fuckload of salt. or you could just buy salt pills(which many endurance athletes used after long sessions).

Thanks.

I was thinking about the soup method but stock tends to contain yeast and lactose, neither of which I want to eat. I actually got some yeast and lactose free stock the other day and made brocolli soup with it but the stock was pretty tasteless, which killed the experience a lot. I might try and get some stock that suits my dietary requirements and has a bit more taste.

What about making your own stock? If you're cooking chicken anyway...

Thing is I eat clean most of the time, so I need to make sure I am adding it as I wont be getting anything from processed food etc.

I don't see why you would need to add much sodium. It is not guaranteed to increse your blood pressure significantly, and the reality is you can easily get more than enough by adding some table salt to your food.

Not all High/low BP is a result of sodium in salt (ionic not sodium metal). Some people respond to the chloride ion.

If you do Fitday rigorously, you can check your sodium/chloride levels, or anything else. In mine, oddly Selenium is low. (So I take a multi-vitamin).
