Zilla2000 - Where did Tavares win his title at? Each casino has their own titles.
I am pretty sure that is was at this venue.

bennykeith - How can Jon Watashe and Casey Phelps fight for the featherweight belt when Tavares Collins holds it?

paul865 - Tavares won it from Watashe but from what i hear Tavares is out for a while with a neck injury

This is true and why they should at the very least make it an interim title.

Prittyboy - I so hope Paul puts a beat down on Brenton! Lj is out so Whitney Warren is now fighting Brandon. And as for Watashe vs Phelps I like them both but I want the winner of there fight!! Make it happen!

You mean Whitey Warren? That would a fun kickboxing match but I'm guessing it's MMA. Brandon has looked very tenative in the fights I've seen him in. With a few fights under his belt now let's hope the nerves don't factor in and he can fight up to his potential.

I've heard a lot of people say the main event was a good back and forth fight. You didn't see that?

The main event was very back and forth. Linam hung with Taylor standing and Taylor hung with Linam on the ground. I would not consider it a boring fight whatsoever.

The Watashe/Phelps co-main event fight was the fight of the night IMO. Unsure how anyone could not find it exciting. There were suplexes, powerbombs, leglocks, sub attempt after sub attempt - both guys fought their hearts out. Watashe had his meniscus torn in the 2nd from a heel hook attempt and still finished all 5 rounds. Very proud of Watashe - he showed courage, heart and skill. Phone Post

Watashe's opponent pulled out and he only prepared for a couple of weeks as well. Watashe outworked his opponent on the ground and had superior striking. Exciting fight by both guys. Phelps has a good leg game which I admire as I like leg game. Showed us a hole in Watashe's game that can be easily fixed. Phone Post

Watashe and phelps are about even, all things considered. But here are a list of guys I manage that would and could beat both of them given the chance.

Houston stout, will Thompson, mike maldanado, Terry Acker, Brandon Rondon, jerod spoon, Ronnie Whiteman, Cory ace, Duane spurgin. Phone Post

I see nothing wrong with a decisions. Sometimes the opportunity to finish is not there. Not saying that happened in this case. People that complain about it in the UFC are selfish. It's not easy to just finish people at the highest levels. Phone Post

I thought it was a pretty good local card.  I felt like I got my money's worth.

There were a couple mismatches but I think that's understandable on a local card.

I don't know  who Phelps and Watashe would beat, but their fight was awesome!  When Phelps hit that heel hook it made me cry and I was just sitting there with a Crown and Coke.

I thought Paulie showed a boatload of heart hanging in there with a much bigger, stronger guy and still throwing sub attempts when he could.

I thought Nemo Cepeda had the highlight of the night as well as the best walk-in music of the night!

Also, props to Whitey Warren for some sick jiujitsu.  I was sitting by his opponent's family and felt obligated to be restrained, but that kneebar he won with was frickin' awesome!

I think the River Spirit venue is great and hope they'll be back.

m24sws - Phelps threw around 7 or 8 strong leg lock attempts including one heel hook that tore Tashes meniscus. Saying he doesn't have a good leglock game is a very ignorant statement.

Tavares (correct spelling) Collins may or may not have beaten Tashe again. However Collins told DAC he could not make 145 again so it sounds like we will never find out.

Budwhite - I agree with your post - good stuff. Thanks for the kind words on Nemo. He trained very hard for this fight and one of the main things we worked was turning the corner/changing the angle and striking. It obviously paid off. Phone Post

I had helped Phelps clean up his Muay Thai, and hands in 2010, for his XFL, Debut, he works hard in the Gym, only problem was getting him in the Gym! This kid has allot of potential, frustrating to see local talent like Phelps just being content with the what ever Attitude. He's better than that.. Phone Post

m24sws - Leg locks are desperation moves. shogun rua vs Jones, Linam vs Taylor Phelps vs Watashe all desperation moves because they where getting their asses kicked lol. Phone Post
Leglocks are situational moves just like any other submission. Some people do tend to go for them carelessly though. Phone Post

See Mir vs. Freeman, Shamrock vs. Franklin.

There are a few that are really good at it. I've seen videos of a Japanese fighter that does flying ankle locks and is really good at it. Joe Lauzon used to do that as well in the regional circuit. Leg locks just leave you more defenseless if you miss because both your hands busy and are not defending.

If I remember correctly, Linam won a right at the Spirit Bank Event Center diving for a leg lock like that.

Imanari is great at finishing with them but the conditions have to be there or you can't go for the move just like any other submission. Phone Post

He is injured at the moment and plans on making it again after he heals up. Yay!
