Like most Minnesotans Brock is of Scandinavian-American descent.

As a follower of Odin he left the meat of a mule deer in the wild, where is was no doubt meant to be devoured by wolves and ravens; the animals most sacred to Odin.

Granted, the ritual was more common a milennia ago but it those times it was considered proper for a viking warrior to make a similar offering before a battle.

Clearly Brock is guilty, but of what?  In my mind, his only crime was acting in accordance to his faith in the gods of his ancestors.

Brock via blood eagle, RD 1.

In fact Brocks' "transgressions" might have gone unnoticed, until forum member Lookoutawhale brought this matter to the attention of the authorities.

it seems that blood rites, sacrifices and voodoo, though considered 'performance enhancing' are not currently illegal under most athletic commission rules.

bendo has jesus, hector lombard has the mighty loa papa shango and brock lesnar has odin.

As a practicing Viking, I'm appalled at this religious persecution! Brock needs to fight this!

indeed.

the plight of the modern viking goes largely unnoticed, even in our information-rich modern day and age.

historically speaking the english have always been quick to demonize and persecute all viking-kind.

was canada, having not completely cut the apron-strings to mother england, looking to make an example of lesnar in an effort to appease their former overlords?

I seem to remember Jesus turning bread into elk meat. Besides who else do you know that blesses God?

by blessing the christian god brock has shown a willingness to live and let live.  there is room in mma for all faiths to flourish.  its a shame he's not shown the same tolerance.

plenty of boar meat and honey-wine to go around, metaphorically speaking.

Scandinavian descent. Scandinavian-American descent makes no sense. Unless you're describing somebody born of Scandinavian-Americans who've migrated to, say, China.

the viking is by nature a nomad, therefore i can't assume they take such issues of citizenship for granted.

brock has been known to migrate as far as canada, although such forays might be more accurately described as border-raids.

whale, given your massive popularity and influence even among the highest members of canadian parliament, were you aware of the political repercussions and legal ramifications that your video may have caused?

Interesting question Unfilter. I was aware. Each of my videos is exported to youtube with due process.  After completing the video i print each frame out and send it to my local member of parliament. He then gives me the OK at the municipal level if he deems the video worthy and then we can take the next steps at the provincial level.

The video is then sent to the Premier so that it can be ok'd at the provincial level. Once it is cross examined and they find a suitable level of humour they either sent it back to the municipal level or then send it to Ottawa so it can be sent to the House of Commons in the capital.

Once in Ottawa various political parties debate on the hilarity level of my videos. If it meets the federal threshhold. They vote on it and then if passed it is sent it to the Governal General of Canada who, as acting as a liason to the British Commonwealth first shows the video to Queen Elizabeth II as part of ceremony. She then phones me if she approves at which point i can then go ahead and upload to Youtube.

Each video i make goes through this vicious Canadian humour legal process which takes around atleast 4 years per video. This Brock video in question was made in 1948 and only now has surfaced when the house of commons finally came to a vote.

Whale -> Municipal -> Provincial -> Federal -> Governer General -> Queen Elizabeth -> Youtube

I knew this Brock Lesnar Bruhaha was coming with full force. I knew the animal authorites were going to hit him hard. I just was not at liberty to say anything because of legal issues.  Brock was not the hunter this time, but the hunted and it was not my place to tell the people of what i knew behind the scenes. I hope you accept my humble mammal apology unfilter as this is all part of due process.

Recent legal precedent in Canada established that religious right do not trump certain other rights, (in that case women's rights.) However I have yet to hear a good, and (key word) HONEST legal argument why the rights of Christians or Muslims trump those of say, Wiccans or even "Jedi Knights".

. . . . And Brock would have made a decent middling Viking. Read the story of how much of Scandinavia was converted to Christianity. Those people were not to be fucked around with.

DethKlok is correct. This lawsuit is even deeper than we can all fathom.

Its hitting boundaries that people will feel uncomfortable even mentioning at christmas parties.

Viking rights are the elephant in this room.

i am always amazed at the sophisticated ballet that is the hallmark of canadian socialism at its finest.  it makes our american democracy seem as purposeless as several species of small furry animals gathered in a cave and grooving with a pict.  tell jian ghomeshi i said hello.

and on a personal note, thank you whale, for both shedding some light on this highly sensitive discussion and for your decades of toil; your youTube videos will stand forever as cathedrals of comedy.
