Holy shit
Thought Zuffa moved all the guys with large show money (over 120k) over to UFC.

Send Mousasi to UFC please, make him fight a Lyoto or Shogun to either vindicate the lovers or haters. Phone Post

Mousasi and Melendez both negotiated fat, guaranteed (no win bonus BS) contracts with Strikeforce that are evidently tied to Showtime. Zuffa is obligated to honor these (reportedly 6-8 fight) agreements to the letter. This obviously gives those fighters a lot of leverage in any negotiation to transfer to UFC. It also makes it less likely that Zuffa will transfer them because it may involve making additional concessions to Showtime or the fighters themselves.

Strikeforce payouts are pretty out of whack. I'm glad those guys are getting paid, but the payouts are way more than the company can afford. The gate took in $154,000 for that show which basically covers Gil's "show" money.

Zuffa drove them to it just like they did EXC, Affliction, and the IFL.
Dana even admitted with Dan Henderson it got to the stage where Zuffa actually wanted Strikefirce to sign him and started withdrawing from the deal, as there was no way Hendo could generate the money he was costing.
Same situation with Gegard Zuffa had 1st option due to Affliction deal but were happy to let Strikeforce pay him the big bucks knowing what the end game would be. Phone Post

It has nothing to do with the gate it has to do with how much showtime pays the promotion.

There have been plenty of ufc's that were not on ppv where I'm sure the gate did not cover the entire payroll.
