I second KC's motion. No matter what, the fireworks is tradition. PERIOD. New years in HI will become boring as like the rest of the nation. Phone Post

KyokushinCatch - ^ een Havai'i, tradition laffs at you

quick story

one NYE, when I was a beat Officer in Waianae, I was sent via dispatch to Jade St. (Makaha) on a report of illegal fireworks being set off

upon arrival, I could see the length of the street (several blocks) and it looked like it was on fire from the ground to about 30' in the air, from where I was to as far as I could see. it was impressive considering it was only about 9:30pm

I laughed, got on the mic and told dispatch "yup, there's fireworks going off here. 10-8 sixty (basically, I'm back & there ain't a damn thing 1 cop can do about this)"

ended up being a nuts night, but that's another story
