It's a shame what age and a long career of boxing can do to legends in the sport of boxing.

Blue namers please:

One can clearly see that Toney is not as good as he used to be, not technically...but it just seems that he does not have the hunger in him.

if toney would have stayed in shape and never went above 175 he could have been even higher regarded. would have been great to see an inshape toney vs roy at 168 or 175 or toney vs tarver or toney vs hopkins at 168

This. Toney was a beast back in the day, and is probably 2x better than most boxers out there today...however age, brain-damage and lack of training gets to you sooner or later. He was at 240lbs a year ago. It's a shame in my opinion, but yeah it's the fight-business.

Jesus, please retire already. I remember when Toney first made his jump to heavyweight, I was in awe of his slickness. Now he's a sad old man who's brain is mush.

i gotta disagree a bit. not just the fight business toney's lack of dedication to staying in shape and choices he has made is what led us to this. imagine if he had the work ethic of hopkins

I get your point Pharo, but I believe that Toney has done enough for the sport of boxing. I still believe he will be considered as one of the greatest boxers of the 90's

Really just Shaub...the rest of them either had established careers as high level guys(Mir, Nelson), or in JDS's case, was a prospect who was fighting a Cro Cop who was still threatening.

Schaub fought a Cro Cop who was very much on his way out.

And fuck Lebedev. Prime Toney would have handled him with ease. Phone Post
