are half papolo half haole still called bodinki?

never heard half black half white = bodinki. My grandpa always said bodinki = puerto rican. He grew up in the Liliha/Lanakili area near school street, where there were a lot of puerto ricans back in the day. Here in Nyc the puerto ricans call themselves "Boriquas," which sounds a little like "bodinki" when they pronounce it.

^Funny is that what I thought it meant too growing up. I was under the impression "borinki/borinque" meant having kinky hair.

Found out later in History classes that "Borinki/Borinque" comes from "Boriqua/Boricua", the original Taino name for pre-Columbian Puerto RIcan Indians. I think early Puerto RIco was called like Boriquen or something like that.

Once I talked about with a real educated Puerto Rican and how it was terrible that the original Taino Indians (and Arawak) were decimated to the point their original ethnic bloodlines were non-existent.

She politely went edumucated apeshit on me, telling me that's a lie and the Tainos were still living, b/c she was one. I don't think she understood my point. I doubt she could say she was a 100% Taino, nor could anyone else nowadays.

But it was enlightening nevertheless.

I don't hear katonk and Buddhahead anymore.

Last guys who told me those terms were AJA, Nisei old-timers. Like the old ones hanging around Arakawa's.

MOB U2 - I still all use those words. I saw some high ranking administrative superiors while running the marathon this Dec. First thing I said was, "HO HOW U DOING BU BLAH BLAH BLAH SHOOTS CUZ!"

It was pretty funny b/c this was in Hawaii Kai with people I only know in professional settings and speak only standard, no pidgin, no-Hawaiian-words-at-all-English with.

Btw, I still say 'rad', hemajang, kapakai, hemo, choke, "sucking buggah", and hele regularly.
