Or is this just a manufactured rumor so Ishii can bow out of MMA? Doesn't seem to be going too well

If it was a manufactured rumor...why wouldn't Chonan be playing along?

didn't watch the video, but that fight was a work and they're trying to make it look like it wasn't. those shots were not direct hits anymore than rich's in franklin vs. shamrock were.

So let me try and understand the work angle.  Japan's national hero and judo gold medalist was told to lose to Fedor?  Is that really what people think?

What would be the purpose behind that?

Japan has a long and storied history of holding worked fights. I cite Pancrase, Pride, et al, not to mention pro wrestling. "national heroism" has nothing to do with it, it's not like it was the other way around, the fight was in russia and fedor took a dive. that would never happen.

you're saying it's TOTALLY outside the realm of possibility that ishii threw the bout to fedor (another hero in japan)? come on.

Ishii was rolling with Marcel Louzado for about an hour last week on Thursday, he looked fine to me.

If it were a work, Fedor would have lost.

The national hero landing nothing and getting KO'd in the first isn't exactly the kind of script somebody would fix a fight for.

I highly doubt he is considered much of a national hero considering his wishes to become a US citizen and represent the US in the 2016 olympics.

the fight may have been a mismatch, but no way did that look like a work.   I thought the more interesting story in regards to a work were the pro wrestling matches.  They seemed to get real at points.  Did JLB really kick big tim, or did he take a dive?  that is the real question.

Fedor fight wasn't a work. The Sylvia fight looked fishy though.
