Robert Mirabal is a highly respected Native flautist who actually makes his own flutes. Many are on display at the Smithsonian Museum for Native Americans.

Native music shares qualities with many other indigenous music of the world in the fact that it's purpose is not to be sold or conceived as a "product", but actually a function in life which is every bit as essential as dinner or maybe praying. This is also true in Africa, India, and many other types of music.

Therefore, these types of musics are incorporated in many types of other music: hip hop, metal, pop, jazz, cuban, etc etc.

This vid. is a combination of native flute music, classical, pop, etc.

African music is the same way, you hear it in: Afro cuban, rock and roll, pop, jazz, blues, etc....
