Nick wants a break, they set this up so that Nick would be the one turning down the fight, take the heat off Carlos. That's my tinfoil hat conspiracy. Nice thing about it is that it is legit, Carlos will fight if Nick wants to, so the heat should die. Phone Post
Hope you are wrong but this could be true. Phone Post

This deserves a bump. From 15 hours ago.

Ocrus and Chaplinshouse, thanks, good answers. Makes sense.

Silverball, while I like your response in theory, it just doesn't make sense. Carlos is human, not some monument of integrity and all that is "holy". All the things you listed are intangibles and while admirable, they just don't seem like something a dude with a family would place in higher priority. It makes sense financially to take the fight, cash in big one more time at the very least, and further secure your future.

I remember a scene from game of thrones when Bronn fought for Tyrion Lanisters life. He beat the champion knight and punted him out of the window. The queen screamed "You fight with no honor!" to which he replied "No, but he did"

Touche.

knuckles2 - Look at Nicks face compared to Carlos, Condit won the fight no doubt, what a bunch of whining bitches to complain that Condit wouldn't stand in front of Nick...dumb, Condit had a good game plan and won, connect with kicks and punches and circle back to the middle of the ring. Nicks camp is just looking for excuses.

Ya, it's all becoming clear now. They knew nick tested positive, so they accepted, makes Carlos look better. Pretty simple stuff. Phone Post

Since he's all about that money Diaz will probably wait for GSP and stay out of this rematch.

Carlos Condit vs. Nick Diaz II already a no-go, says Cesar Gracie

DBlades - Here's what I want to know. If you are Carlos Condit, you just won your golden ticket, a shot at the champion, the guy who holds the very thing you covet.

You just fought this guy (Diaz), who absorbed a lot of damage and big shots and kept coming forward. Your game plan worked perfectly, you would not engage him in the corner, pound him with leg kicks and pressure him with your stand up (in the center or from what I gathered when he felt he had some sort of advantage, whether that be timing or something he would notice in Diaz movements, it was clear he knew when and how Diaz would move, brilliant imo).

The game plan though seems like a one time thing. Diaz will either spend hours dissecting (or well his coach will) Carlos movements and exiting strategy and how to effectively seal off his exits, or land big shots as Carlos is disengaging, or he is a complete imbecile and will just imply the same loosing strategy focusing on increasing the pace or whatever.

Either Carlos had a plan B in the event his stick and move strategy didn't work, and will use that, or he really feels Diaz can't compete with him in a technical fight.

Regardless my question is; why would you accept a rematch? It makes no sense, especially with everyone rooting against you...Why even take it? You've earned your stripes, you have nothing to prove to anyone, you're the man with the golden ticket, so cash it in....

Not exactly how it works.  As the champion, he has to defend his belt against who he's told to do so.  If he refuses, his belt gets stripped.  He also bites the hand that feeds him and he will no longer be fighting for ZUFFA.  He has no choice but to fight who Dana tells him to fight.  Case in point he made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with fighting Diaz but as soon as Dana told him to do it, the entire attitude changed and he accepted.  Dana wants people to think that the champions have a say in this but the reality is they don't  They fight who they are told to fight and theye are compensated very nicely for their efforts.

orcus - Guess what, other guys have had answers for that style before. Maynard almost knocked Edgar's head off in two different fights and many seem to think Ben Henderson will finish the job. Ellenberger almost knocked Carlos's head off; Rory took him down and was sailing toward a win before Condit turned it around. Ben Henderson manhandled and outworked Guida. Shogun KTFO of Machida.

Just because your guy didn't have the tools to adapt, there's no need to cry about the sport becoming Olympic TKD (lol).

For every one of the 150 strikes Condit landed, Nick had a chance to land a harder shot of his own, or to go for a takedown.

Of the examples you listed, here's how they actually performed:

Maynard/Edgar title fight 1 draw, in spite of  Maynard solving ellusive strategy of Edgar.
Maynard/Edgar title fight 2 was KO'd in rematch in spite of solving ellusive stratrgy of Edgar.
Henderson/Edgar this fight has not happened, not sure why you listed it in your example of a fighter solving the ellusive style
Ellenberger/Condit lost decision in spite of solving Condit strategy
McDonald/Condit was KO'd in spite of solving Condit strategy
Henderson/Guida again not sure why this is listed, Guida does not employ a strategy of being ellusive.
Rua/Machida 1 Rua loses in spite of solving ellusive strategy of Machida
Rua/Machida 2, Rua wins! and 1 of your 8 examples proves to be correct!  Excellent, thank you for the tremendous insight.

Is there a fighter out there that gets more chances then Diaz!? What the hell has this guy done professionally to deserve this!?

He loses fights in the UFC, cries like a baby, direspects other fighters and he gets another chance?!

Of course he's going to whine like a little B!tch again and continue to cry he gets no breaks! Lmao, that's all this punk gets is breaks.

Something is not right, mmajunkie just stated that the fight is off and C. Gracie says, Nick will NOT fight a rematch and wishes Condit well against GSP.

Who knows what the hell is going on now.

Carlos Condit vs. Nick Diaz II already a no-go, says Cesar Gracie
by Steven Marrocco on Feb 08, 2012 at 2:35 pm ET
Almost as soon as it seemed a reality, a rematch between Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit is not happening.

When contacted today by MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com), Diaz manager Cesar Gracie said "no" when asked if a rematch recently announced is a reality. He declined further comment.

UFC president Dana White issued a tweet late Tuesday that said Condit had accepted a rematch with Diaz and was headed to Las Vegas on Friday, presumably, to finalize a contract for the fight.

Condit manager Malki Kawa did not respond to a request for comment on the status of the bout but today confirmed the rematch via Twitter.
