A couple obvious mismatches there...........would be surprised if all these bouts get sanctioned.

"Honestly, its almost impossible for matchmakers with 6 or 8 years of MMA matchmaking experience to pull these cards together in this environment. These promoters only started in this in the last year and have only successfully matched 14 MMA fights ever in the 3 shows they've attempted.

And they have been involved in 2 one-and-dones and a never-happened. And rustled a few feathers along the way.

So even if these guys had a decade of real MMA matchmaking experience and all the reputation and contacts and banked credibility that comes with that, they would have an almost impossible time matching this in 4 weeks in the challenging environment out there in the industry right now.
No disrespect intended, but they don't have any of that."

"trying to say don't come down too hard on these guys if this doesn't happen or if it does happen to any LOW LEVEL OF QUALITY...."

Look man. I make my observations, you decide to hate on them cuz they're negative. Knock yourself out.

If you want to pay $200 for floor seats for this or $70 for a back row seats in an almost empty arena for this that's totally up to you.

I'm happy for fighters to get an opportunity, and I hope it goes well for them.

I'm pretty sure Denis and Daryl won't get approved, but I'm happy for the fighters.

Enjoy your day Randy.

Apparently they reduced the top ticket price to under $80.

Great to hear.

Nicely done.

Amazing that so many people who have no intention of supporting this event spend so much time tearing it down.

I don't like Arby's much. I'm more of a Burger King guy. If people want to eat at Arby's, knock yourself out. I'm not going to Stanton outside and try to deter you from eating there, especially if I work for the competition or have friends who do.

Seems petty to me. Phone Post

I have a great dictionary if you want to borrow it, Phil, by a guy named Webster.

According to the dude that wrote it, the words "bitching" and "discussing" can't be used interchangeably in the English language. Phone Post

Thank goodness this card is going to happen. More MMA in the province is what we need. Hopefully these guys will be men about it and stand up and fight it out. There is nothing worse than seeing half naked guys roll around hugging each other in a cage. If I wanted that I would go Saskatchawan.

The only other issue that this event may have is that it's in Belleville. I hear they call it "the friendly city" because the average family tree there is a wreath.

You really hope this ends up being a good experience for the fighters in all 6 fights. I'm sure it will be. All the best to all the fighters tonight.

Keep an eye on Oliver, this guy is crazy talented.

Its a bit of a drag show-wise, and this territory will be forever damaged for MMA nomatter how awesome all of these great fighters perform.

Its unreasonable to charge $150 and $200 for floor seats and $80 for seats in stands for a small 6 fight card without experienced names. And to make claims of million dollar impacts and sell-outs.... its a drag.

The truth is, Ontario is the most challenging area on Earth to do shows. Fighter shortage, so many better opportunities with proven shows for the fighters that are there, stringent safety-first commission, a hesitant audience, so many issues.

Really, inexperienced people without the skills, experience, contacts, reputation and history are in deep trying to succeed here. People trying to do this have to be top notch.

Trying to do shows here without any experience in less complicated regions is like trying to do your first concert in Madison Square Gardens, or losing your virginity to a porn star. You just don't have the ability. And you don't even know enough to ask the right questions and recognize your weaknesses and what you are missing. You'll flop and you'll blame everyone else.

There will be a million challenges, and every promoter will face them in Ontario. It'll be tough to match fights. You will need to match them VERY fairly or they will not be approved by the OAC (which is a GOOD thing). You will lose guys for meds. There wil be fighter cancelations. Fights will go down. Travel. Commission. Illness. Meds. It happens on every show. It happens to Bellator. It happens to The Score. It happened in Sarnia. They had the skills to beat the challenges.

You must have highly skilled, highly experienced people with an impeccable reputation and a history of great work to be able to make it work.

Its a challenging business on every level. All of these challenges and set backs will happen. You need the right team to pull it off. Like the concert business. Or the theatre business. Or any number of businesses. You can't just succeed in it because you have a passion for it. You must know what you are doing. You must be great at it.

Hopefully they are able to give away 5 or 6 hundred tickets tonight so its exciting for the fighters.

Its bad news that someone is going to lose almost $100 000 tonight. You don't wish that on anybody. And its bad news about crazy ticket prices for a card that couldn't be pulled together.

But hopefully these young fighters have a great night. All the best to them.

Robin, shouldn't you be out cutting hair? Why you stopped doing a real sport like TKD and took to the sweaty man rolling only makes me sad.

I used to love your music. I would roll downtown in my 79 t-top camaro blasting it as the wind ran through my mullet and chicks in neon coloured clothing with big hair cheered.

WTF happened to you man, you used to be cool?

Also, I hope that this event goes well and they all stand up and fight it out.

Well Dutch, the show started 2 1/2 hours late.

If you paid $350 for your table seats, hopefully you have enjoyed your 18 minutes of action to go with 2 fights left.

All joking aside this is bad for the sport in the region. The Quinte territory is ruined for this great sport.

Sad.

All this other stuff is noise.

Just got back. All the fighters fought hard and put on a pretty good show for the crowd

Results:

Full card:

175lbs – Joel Powell (3-2) vs. Fabio Moraes (3-2)

Joel wins by TKO in the first round. Controlled the entire fight, great standup, great power and great groundwork. Very impressive.

155lbs – Ainsley Robinson (4-1) vs. Eric Attard (4-1)

Ainsley ins by UD. This was probably fight of the night, lots of highlights here, big takedowns big punches, Eric had Robinson's back at the end of the fight for about a minute and a half. Crowd was going nuts

205lbs – Peter Nolan (3-0) vs. Caleb Grummet (4-3)

Nolan wins by mata leao 1st round, big power standing, works for a takedown, takes the back, from there it's academic

155lbs – Oliver Vadinais (0-0) vs. Ronnie Phillips (0-0)

I missed this fight, but I *believe* Oliver won by tko in the second round

145lbs – Jeff Chen (0-0) vs Daniel Ireland (0-1)

Jeff wins by TKO in the first round. Dan just couldn't get started and Jeff showed great poise and some fantastic muay thai. Kicks low, punches high, wobbled dan and ref stepped in.

155lbs – Alan Wilson (1-0) vs. Derek MacDonald (0-0)

Alan wins by armbar in the first round. He took Derek down, Derek had some good work from the guard with his elbows, but started to slow, Alan passes guard, takes mount, gets the armbar. Good show by the two young fighters.
