Epic report. Very good read, even if I don't agree with most of it. Bias and speculation have been mentioned already, don't think I need to beat a dead horse.

Sal Penis -  Wow what a great post EB. Pretty much sums up the ufc and dana white. Anderson has fought mostly cans. Point fighting is taking over because of zuffa system. Same boring production values. I feel exactly the same way dude.

Bloodstain Lane talks about everything mentioned here. Why does he also get so much hate?

Ive been fed up with ufc for along time. Im pretty passionate about mma and hate seeing real fighters (Fedor, Nick Diaz, Dan Henderson, Shogun, Gilbert Melendez etc) get screwed over and i stopped wasting money on watered down product. Ive gone far enough as to get blocked on twitter by Dana and calling his ass out for being shady right here on ug.

Goodluck in 2012 ufc LOL <img border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;" alt="Phone Post" src="/images/phone/droid.png" />

Thanks Sal Penis - and yes I did give you a shout out at the end there....

I got to read this Bloodstain Lane guy's posts.  Sounds like it would be interesting.  Anyone have his links to his opinions / views of the UFC  ?

He's a fake tough guy from NY who loves the UFC, you'd hate him.

Oh wait, he hates the UFC, you'd love him.

D241 -  I mean seriously, who here thinks UFC is perfect?

That they have the best business model and no improvements could or need to be done?
<br type="_moz" />

Nothing is perfect but there is a difference between thinking something needs to be fixed in order for it to grow and be better and saying straight up you hope the UFC dies and goes under.

I understand not liking Dana or UFC or a certain org but can anyone honestly say that if the UFC went out of business the sport of mma would be better off?

What real mma fan is willing to take that chance? That you can have the UFC go and the sport of mma is doing well and is more mainstream and gets covered like a sport and yeah you may not like the org but you love the sport and the UFC being around keeps the sport alive.

If the UFC went under I dont think mma would be in a very good place. Sure Viacom/Bellator could take over but who knows what the sport would be like if UFC went under and this is something EB wants.

Howard Liu - Great write up EatonBeever! I have just a couple of things to add to your tome that the newer MMA/UFC fan may not be aware of.

1.) The dark or banned from cable tv ppv years for the UFC and MMA was orchestrated clandestinely by organized Boxing via Senator John McCain. At that time, Boxing's biggest American sponsor and benefactor was Anheuser Busch (Budweiser), and Senator John McCain's wife's family was/is the biggest Anheuser Busch distributer in Arizona. Feeling that the upstart UFC was a threat to it's popularity, organized Boxing, through it's biggest corporate sponsor "encouraged" Senator John McCain to get on his soap box to discredit the UFC and MMA as "human cock-fighting", and pressured the major domestic cable companies to ban the broadcasting of MMA events. Only satelite tv carried them and at that time, most households had cable, not satelite.

2.) The sale of the UFC from SEG to ZUFFA was a very ugly episode that foretold how the new owners really operated. Once the cable ban was lifted, SEG tried to get the UFC legitimate in the eyes of the sporting mainstream. The best way to do this was to get sanctioned in Nevada, where Boxing settled in many decades ago. The Nevada State Athletic Commission denied SEG a license to operate there. One of the Commissioner's that voted against SEG was......LORENZO FERTITA. Without sanctioning, SEG UFC was dead in the water, and put up for sale. Immediately Lorenzo Fertita and Mark Keizer resigned as Nevada State Athletic Commissioners.

Once Zuffa finalized the purchase of the UFC, the new owners hired Mark Keizer as a consultant.  Zuffa UFC then re-applied for sanctioning in Nevada. And everybody knows the rest of the story.

 Nice Post !!!!  Voted up.

I knew if I had an e-fight with someone it would only bump up the thread to gain the attention of a quality poster!!!!!!!!!

I'd also like to point out that ANY old school fan or even a newer fan with knowledge of history would like to add anything, please do so !!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that no vote on whether or not to sanction SEG ever took place.

Plus lol @ Eaton's bizarre meltdown.

lets debate your incorrect assessment that the UFC isn't a monopoly.

No offense to you, sir, but the fact that you posted a wiki link as your source says enough.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/monopoly?s=t

where does the UFC have exclusive control of a commodity(MMA) in a particular market? Does the UFC contol Bellator, Dream, OneFC, TPF, BAMMA, etc? The answer is no. The UFC does not stop anyone from creating their own MMA promotion, nor do they have a lock on all of the talent in the sport. You CANNOT say they are a monopoly just because they've been in the game longer and they do it better than anyone else.

Furthermore, Bellator's recent success shows that MMA does infact exist beyond the UFC. They even have a video game coming out. Do you think if the UFC had a real control of the MMA market that they would allow a competitor to do such a thing? Do you remember how pissed off DFWjr. was about that EA MMA game?

If you said to me, Tank by Gogoplata, the UFC WANTS to be a monopoly I would probably agree with you. However, you very boldly told me that I've made an incorrect assessment in saying that they aren't, when in actuallity, you've proven to be the one who is incorrect.

To be honest with you, I will check for a response. However, I highly doubt that you will sway my opinion.(I also didn't read the wiki link, because I don't consider it a legitimate source) so if you provide me with factual data supporting your case I will give it an honest chance.

EatonBeever -  You'll see myself debate with noobs such as Chris27, Slammin, WatchinMMA, Suess, DRevan, MMALOGIC, DOCTORMMA, unfilter, McBottery, GriffinQ, caposa who are brand new to the sport (but of course will lie and say they've been here since the beginning but continue to have the same opinions as all the other noobs) and they will carry on like they have some knowledge and meaningful opinions, but they don't.
Just curious, when have I ever lied or claimed to have been here "since the beginning"?

Did you just make that up in your head, kinda like how you wrote this garbage at work in 2 hours? You either must be an amazing typist (417 WPM!), or you're just desperately trying to conceal the fact that you are a psychotic loser who sits around writing 25,000 word (no joke I used a word counter) thesis papers about a sport and organization that you claim to hate.

We are all laughing at you Eaton.

Seek help.

Also, the FTC already investigated them and deemed that they are, in fact, not a monopoly. So there actually isn't any debate to be had at all. They aren't a monopoly, plain and simple.
