I need a favor from someone on Pokerstars.

I just moved to Brazil and am going through the necessary process of setting up my bank account so that I can deposit funds into my stars account. So far none of my credit cards have worked because the billing address is a U.S. one.

If you are able to transfer some money into my account, I will gladly transfer it back to you within a week, plus 10%, via pokerstars, or I can transfer it to you immediately through paypal if you have a paypal account.

I'm eventually going to deposit a few thousand onto Stars, but right now I'd be really grateful if someone could transfer as little as $100.

You can reach me by email at andrehanderson@hotmail.com if you're able to do this.

My pokerstars screen name is putuonak.

This thread had nothing to do with being tapped or not. It simply isn't easy to get money onto Stars if you don't have a foreign bank account set up--or if you were previously a US player.

That said, I am tapped. I wasnt when this was made, but with the cost of moving myself, my wife and everything we own to Brazil, plus the money I spent and lost at the WSOP, plus my horrendous game selection and play on Stars since we got here, I have depleted my bankroll completely. I'm in very sorry shape.

It sucks.

Wish you the best dude. Just wondering did you move to Brazil so you can play poker online? Also dont worry to much you should look out your window every day and see hotties in thongs.

LOL...thanks. My wife is Brazilian so every time she sees me looking out the window she throws something at me. :)

Ive been with my wife for 9 years and she has always wanted us to move to Brazil, but we didnt know how we'd make a living there. I have a degree in English Lit, but teaching English down here wouldnt really afford us a comfortable life. After I immersed myself in poker and had a great run at playing live for a living, we had just enough confidence to move down here so I could play online. That didnt work out so well, and now I'm broke. :(

But I'll find a way back, and maybe it's good that it's keeping me from playing poker. I love the game, but it's a young, single man's game if you want to do it for a living--I think.

Thanks so much for the good wishes, DK. I really appreciate it.

Well man you know how to do it, start small and humble and rebuild that roll. Be ultra disciplined. Allow yourself a life of freedom through playing poker. Keep that in mind. You'll be back soon enough.

Thanks, DK. Have you been playing on Bovada or any of the US facing sites?

Nah man, only live for me these days. Have three casinos in South Florida with great action within 20 miles. I did pretty well online for a while but I was not disciplined enough in the long run. I can keep my sessions more in check and the slower pace helps me slow down playing live. Plus I play live tourneys as well. Good action down here IMO.

The casinos in South Florida are awesome. I played at Magic City, The Isle, Hard Rock, and...one other. Cant remember the name of the other one. lol

Id only play live if I could, too. Much softer.

Feel free to disregard the following, but if you want to teach it may be helpful.

I don't know where in Brazil you are, but your best bet is to find a school for diplomats/buisnesspeople. You didn't mention having a teaching credential which you'll probably need to compete with the teachers on the International Circuit. It can be tough to land a spot, but those places are usually like a revolving door so spots open pretty often.

If you're planning on staying long term in Brazil, and you really want to teach as a job, try and get on as a substitute and get to know people so you get recommendations from the staff.

If you have access to the university down there, sort out your teaching credential, and if you can pick up a MTESOL or TEFOL. Not the certificate, the proper Masters of Teaching English as a Foreign language.

Schools don't pay poker money and it's not stress free, but comparitavely, it's a breeze and a steady income.

I thought you were going there to teach, not play poker. Not sure what gave you the bright idea of playing online but the online games are WAY tougher than live, it's not even close (not to mention that they are two different games and adjustments must be made). Plus it seems like Stars is one of the more difficult sites with many of the pros making a living off rakeback/FPPs rather than on the tables.

Good luck. I have a no money lending policy (not that I could transfer anyways). For the first few months I played at the casino, there was a nice 20-something yr old Asian grinder that I played with often (probably played with him more than any other player during that time frame). He seemed to be in the same boat as me, just trying to improve and make a living at this game.

What I didn't realize is that he had borrowed lots of money from lots of people in the casino (as well as friends/family). To make a long story short he is now in prison for allegedly murdering his good friend and poker mentor (a former 2/5 grinder at my casino). The police are saying he did it for money (or potentially his friend refused to lend him more money). Anyways, that's now my excuse when anyone asks to borrow money from me (and they do ask at the casino).

Thanks Vector. Good luck to you too!

I hadn't created the thread to borrow money, though. I made the thread when I moved to Brazil and was trying to get money I had in my bank account onto my Stars account. The process was really tough. Phone Post
