Fedor Emelianenko will next compete in June in his home country of Russia against an as of yet unnamed opponent, but a new contender has entered the fray.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and student of legendary trainer Renzo Gracie, Rolles Gracie is now under consideration for the bout with Emelianenko on June 21 in St. Petersburg.

While there is no deal in place at this time, Gracie is one of the leading candidates to potentially land the spot against the former pound-for-pound king later this year.

With a 6-1 record overall, Rolles Gracie may have far less experience in the cage than Emelianenko, it doesn’t mean he’s not a competitor who has show drastic improvements over the last year.

A strong jiu-jitsu guy with sub standard wrestling and striking is tailor-made for Fedor.

 People said that about Werdum.

Werdum was a fluke on a list of guys who went the other way, and as much Fedor's fault as Werdum's fault.

So are the rumors of him taking on Lashley completely dead? Eh, I like this match-up better.

Ok now this is just getting ridiculous lol. Either they (M-1) want Fedor to fight quality competition, or they don't. M-1 is the worst thing that ever happened to Fedor. Phone Post

Fedor is totally irrelevant unless he leaves m-1 if this is the type of match ups they're going to get for him.

If it was Roger, I'd be intrigued. Rolles seems tailor made for Fedor to avoid the takedown and land a big bomb right hand. Phone Post

Who would you have him fight? There are not a lot out there to chose from and I'm sure there are none he is scared of.

100% truth and the reason Fedor needs to get in the UFC very soon.

If Fedor never fights in the UFC, it will one of the biggest disappointments in mma.

Fuck those crazy Russians!

And he would be relevant if it weren't for his moronic 'handlers.'

Imagine if Fedor trained at a real world class MMA gym with top trainers and fighters, and had sane management. He would be VERY damn relevant still. His management has wasted and destryed him. Sad.

Rolles makes the most sense with Pudz, Lashley, JT and Sapp already booked.

Fedor has to go back to fighting this level of guys since he was .250 fighter in SF.

He has 2 in a row, soon to be 3

Another big win streak on the prowl!

khaynes21 - is this the same Gracie that looked absolutely terrible in his UFC debut against Joey Beltran?
I do put emphasis on the word ' TERRIBLE '
..not interested in this fight.

Gonzaga looked terrible in his UFC debut also.

Don't judge a man off of one fight.

I don't know. Theres just not a lot of heavyweight talent to begin with. I'm not saying he isn't good enough or anything like that.

Maybe I should have said as long as he is with m-1 he is essentially irrelevant. He's either not getting good matchups there or there aren't any available. If he joined the UFC, he would immediately be relevant. I just don't think he is in m-1.

Again don't judge a man off of one fight. If all you saw of Hunt was his fight with Manhoef you might would say he has a glass jaw also.

He got headbutted and then hit by a nasty hook. One fight is hardly enough to call him glassjawed. Phone Post
