The question of who will headline UFC 146 continues on.

Alistair Overeem's head manager Glenn Robinson attempted to clarify with Inside MMA's Ron Kruck that the reports of Overeem testing with 'elevated' testosterone levels are simply untrue. It is actually his testosterone to epitestosterone (T/E) ratio that was 'off,' according to Robinson. As reported, Overeem's test was flagged positive by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for a staggering 14:1 T/E ratio. Come April 24, Overeem and camp are still confident however that he will be approved to fight for the UFC heavyweight title on May 26th.

"I spoke with Glenn Robinson, manager of Overeem and he says he is very respectful and is hopeful that he will be granted his license and the entire team is very confident that he will be facing Junior dos Santos come May 26th" said Rice. "Now Robinson wanted to make it very clear that despite other reports, Overeem did not test high for testosterone, but rather his testosterone to epitestosterone was off  and he has a reasonable explanation to why that is, which he will present to the commission next Tuesday."

The most assumed estimation of Overeem's defense before the Nevada Athletic Commission has been that "The Reem" will likely file for TRT exemption. According to NSAC executive director, Keith Kizer, that has not taken place, but also does not rule out his eligibility for exemption at this point.

"Kizer confirmed several things. Overeem has applied for a license to fight in the state and he will have the opportunity to present his case to the commission on why he should be granted that license, despite failing his pre-fight drug test. Now, some have speculated that he may use the defense of testosterone replacement therapy or TRT as a defense as we've seen several fighters do before. Speaking with Kizer, he has said Overeem has not applied for TRT exemption, but that does not mean he can't. He has time to do that. As long as he gives the commission's doctors time to deal with the situation. "

I cannot wait to see how big he gets now!! With TRT he will be cutting down to 265 from 325lbs in no time.. People will cry foul, I just hope he doesn't get a big head over this.

The only thing more irritating than fighters cheating, is when they lie about it when they get caught. It's also pathetically embarrassing for them in my eyes.

Overeem is the OJ Simpson of MMA (minus the murder). Everyone knows he guilty, but he'll never pay the consequences.

TRT exemptions are not granted for fighters with past steroid abuse. Now while you can't prove past steroid use, you can obviously see through his physical progression over the years, that he has not been short on testosterone.

Besides, you're only allowed to use TRT to within normal levels. Anything beyond that is steroid abuse...and there's no way the 14:1 ratio can be explained away as normal TRT use.

It's all such shit.

btw, even if it's shown his total levels were not out of range, he'd still have to have been taking an illegal substance to lower his epitestosterone levels to acheive the 14:1 ratio.

14:1 doesn't prove excessive testosterone use. Anyone using artificial testosterone would fail the T:E ratio by a long way.

It merely proves he injected synthetic test.
His actual testosterone levels would require a blood test. Phone Post

he doesn't even have to pull the no puberty card now that they have all those studies about head trauma leading to a damaged pituitary gland which in turn leads to low T.
never mind that steroid abuse also leads to low T levels, all he has to do is point to his knockouts in MMA and kickboxing and say it is pituitary trauma leading to his low T. i am assuming that there is now way to distinguish how his T levels are low if they legitimately are so even after he stops taking the TRT on orders from the commission.

lol, yeah right Overeem.

Floyd Landis' explanation was that he drank some whiskey if I remember correctly.

Let's see of Overeem is more creative.
Any guesses?

Mine is he had sex with three strippers just before the test.

I'm just glad Overeem is getting the medical treatment he needs for his condition, despite the public backlash that he knew would result.

You mean you can achieve a 14:1 ratio without any exogenous hormones or banned substances? Please enlighten me Doctor.
