Ever wonder how cool it be to have UFC do freak show matches every now and again? Maybe strongman Marius Pudzinski or whatever his last name is vs Ben Rothwell? Super matches like Melendez vs Edgar, Jacare vs Maia, Nate Diaz vs Aoki?

As a fan, that'd be pretty great right?

But what if you're on the business end? Mega cards, Super fights, it can be done, but it would be expensive.
What if you could run a reality tv show, and put a bunch fo bottom tier mediocre fighters who will happily fight for $5,000 to win? You could build up the winners of these shows who are thrilled to be with the UFC brand and making 20k risking serious personal injury against trained professionals. You can headline the winners, and slowly build them up. If a few happen to be good enough to fight higher competition, we can put them up against higher paid guys, but guys we think our 20/20k guy can beat. Joe Silva, Match maker extraordianaire, doing what he does, is great at putting the younger guys, lesser known guys, against veterens who tend to have the higher salary.

Tim Sylvia, Fedor, Sergei Kharitonov
Proven heavyweights, veterens, actively fighting-outside of the UFC. I've given Tim Sylvia some shit in the past as many of you have, but I'd be lying for a reason I wouldn't be able to tell you why, if I told you I wouldn't be interested in a Tim Sylvia vs Stephan Struve match. It'd be an interesting fight in many ways, old vs new, young up and comer climbing the ladder, old veteren trying to work his way back up the ladder, two tall ass heavyweights.  Seems like it could be done right?....

It COULD be done, but what about the intangeables? What IF Tim Sylvia were to win? What if he compiled a win streak? Surely in the #1 organization with all the hype of the UFC, Sylvia's stock would be raised. Well, maybe they could sign Tim Sylvia and see how he does, but if he gets too much steam, Joe Silva, give him a sure loss up next, but don't make it too obvious.  UFC DOES have the power to make whatever match they want, THEY want.

What about Fedor? If UFC signed Fedor for 2 million a fight, or 100k a fight, you know what I'd do? Tune the Fuck in!

But from a business perspective, would that Really make sense? Think about it.
If they were to sign Fedor and "give in" to whatever minimum dollar amount they're asking for, think about the repercussions both immediate, and more importantly, the future.
Is UFC the clear cut #1 MMA organization in the world?-Yes
CAN UFC afford to sign heavyweights like Fedor, Tim Sylvia, etc...?-Yes
SHOULD UFC sign heavyweights like Fedor, Tim Sylvia? As a fan-YES,
if you like growing your car collection?-NO

If Zuffa were to focus on mega fights and pay mega dollars for super stars, the fighter's demand will only grow, it won't shrink. As the world turns, time passes, employees want higher pay. It's inevitable. BUT, you can slow it. You can start a plan, find young talent whom you can groom into a star, once their hype and price get too much, set them up for failure with a hard match up. Can Zuffa afford to let fighters like Fedor and Sylvia and Sergei go without hurting their rep as the #1 MMA promotion? Yes.

Because establishing a brand, making it the clear cut #1 promotion, and looking towards the future and how they can maximize their profits is more important to them than giving the fans fights they want to see.  I know they're fight fans, but you know what, I'm a DIE HARD fight fan, and I can't lie, as Much as I too would like to see Fedor in the UFC, me watching Fedor front row vs owning a shiny new Ferrari, I'm going to choose the Ferrari myself, 10 times out of 10.

The point of all this?  Whose side are you on, the fighters, or the promoters? Do you tune in to hear Joe Rogan and Dana White hype up the ppv fights the first 5 minutes of the ppv-or do you tune in because you want to watch the Fighters Fight?

Auzzie - 1) The UFC has all three of the guys that smashed Fedor in dominant fashion.

2) Fedor's selling point was his undefeated streak, which is gone now.

3) M1 disrespected the UFC, and they still seem to want co-promotion. Fedor is basically a pretty little girl who has been manipulated and deflowered by her creepy stepfather. M1 is the creepy stepfather. The girl is ruined, and is no longer a virgin.

Can I make it any easier to understand? The parents do not want to adopt her anymore; they want to send her to child protection services!!

1-All three of those guys also have 3 losses on their record, that's all Fedor has. Are you saying there's no room for Fedor?
You don't want to see him in the UFC?

2) Fedor's selling point was his undefeated streak, which is gone now.
Gee, too bad that's his only selling point and absolutely nothing else.

3) M1 disrespected the UFC, and they still seem to want co-promotion. Fedor is basically a pretty little girl who has been manipulated and deflowered by her creepy stepfather. M1 is the creepy stepfather. The girl is ruined, and is no longer a virgin.
At no cost to you, would you like to see Fedor in the UFC perhaps even losing to whomever you like?

I think Dana wants to prove a point with M-1

If he was still un-defeated, he would be in UFC, imo

They have Hendo, the guy who moved up to HW and beat Him.

He would be a great addition but for huge $ it wouldnt be worth it.

1.  No.  Freakshow fights are not cool or fun and don't belong in UFC.

2.  No.  "Super matches like Melendez vs Edgar, Jacare vs Maia, Nate Diaz vs Aoki" won't be "super matches" if the UFC signed Melendez, Maia, and Aoki, which they should do.  Then they would be just regular UFC matches.

Funny I keep having people say on multipe threads, "he(Fedor)just isn't worth it".  Funny they don't make those statements in this thread and explain why as a fan to them, he's not worth it.

It is because they idolize DFW and take every shitty opinion that he offers as undisputable fact.
